New Art at the Library

The Moline Public Library is pleased to display three large-scale sculptures at the Library through the summer.  The works of art are made possible as part of the Reher Art Gallery, established in 1987 through a bequest from Helen Reher, a former Moline High School art teacher, in memory of her parents William H. and Bertha W. Reher for the sole use and purpose of establishing an art gallery at the Library. Through the Reher fund, the Moline Public Library has purchased and secured loans of art in many forms. Access to over 50 pieces of art is always free and open to the public for their entertainment and educational benefit.  An informational pamphlet and art map are available at the Circulation Desk.  A photo directory and descriptions of the Gallery's permanent pieces can be found online at: MPL ART

Sculptures on summer loan include:
1. "Cipher "  - Welded Steel, by Skip Willits (located inside the "circle of knowledge" just off the Café's patio)

2.
"Kubota Orange Dinosaur" - the first piece from a long running series of works called "Dinosaurs, Small Monuments to Big Machines" by Matt Moyer (located outside lobby windows)

3. " Confluence " (pictured above) - sculpted from bronze with a corten steel base
by David Zahn. (located near the patio outside the Java Lab Café).
