Rose Recognition of Safety Excellence
The Hagerman Group

Keeping Safety Top of Mind:
Knowledge sharing is a core value at The Hagerman Group and is integral to everything we do as a professional construction company. We have long recognized that our people are our greatest asset, and by continually building upon a culture that embraces safety, we become better and more productive builders. We accomplish this through hard work, planning, and commitment by all Hagerman team members and by investing in their growth, both on the job site and through our educational and training platform,

On The Job Site: Site Specific Safety Programs
Safety begins first with our culture, then proper ongoing training, project-specific planning, team member engagement and empowering everyone on the project. No Hagerman project can start until a Site-Specific Safety Program is developed, written and communicated to all job site workers. When it comes to incidents or near misses, it’s not enough to just report and track the occurrences—we require team members to learn and communicate the lessons exposed by the data to improve safety in the future.

The Hagerman Institute: A Variety of Events Addressing Safety
The Hagerman Institute facilitates regular continuing education courses through a blend of professional, technical, and personal development topics. The technical sessions address safety topics on a regular basis, from overall job site safety to specific safety information on systems and materials we use during construction. For a different take on the concept of safety, a speaker from Circle City Safety recently shared a two-part series on defending ourselves when encountering danger. The Hagerman Institute also hosts more in-depth, day-long events to help our employees grow and develop. This past year, The Hagerman Institute held a Masonry Coalition meeting, where masons from our Fishers and Fort Wayne offices met for a day of educational content, including a safety talk. This fall, The Hagerman Institute will host a subcontractor safety summit in both the Fishers and Fort Wayne office locations. With the goal to form better teams and increase their awareness of safety, the event will help subcontractors understand Hagerman’s expectations and foster dialogue related to challenges and opportunities.
In the Community: Spreading the Message of Safety
Many of The Hagerman Institute sessions are also available to the general public, allowing overall project team members, industry peers, and clients to attend and benefit from the information presented. In addition to sharing knowledge through The Hagerman Institute, we regularly post information about safety on our web site and social media platforms, from a recent blog on silica dust to advice on working in cold weather from Occupational Safety and Health Administration. It’s important that construction companies invest in their people and help them continually improve. The Hagerman Institute helps The Hagerman Group take safety moments beyond the job site, creating a diverse mix of educational opportunities for team members.

Team Feedback
“It was evident when I joined Hagerman that their safety program is top-notch in the industry. Classes are regularly offered through The Hagerman Institute to educate us on lessons learned and the latest and greatest in job site safety. They take safety seriously and from my prior experience, it’s above par and the superintendents are proactive and knowledgeable.”

“As a core value, safety is everybody’s responsibility, and we take it very seriously at Hagerman. We prioritize and emphasize the necessary time and effort to properly train all of our employees, as well as our subcontractor partners, to avoid safety hazards. Creating a culture where safety is always top of mind, simply results in everyone returning home to their families safely each and every day.”
