The Hagerman Group
Keeping Safety Top of Mind:
Knowledge sharing is a core value at The Hagerman Group and is integral to everything we do as a professional construction company. We have long recognized that our people are our greatest asset, and by continually building upon a culture that embraces safety, we become better and more productive builders. We accomplish this through hard work, planning, and commitment by all Hagerman team members and by investing in their growth, both on the job site and through our educational and training platform,
On The Job Site: Site Specific Safety Programs
Safety begins first with our culture, then proper ongoing training, project-specific planning, team member engagement and empowering everyone on the project. No Hagerman project can start until a Site-Specific Safety Program is developed, written and communicated to all job site workers. When it comes to incidents or near misses, it’s not enough to just report and track the occurrences—we require team members to learn and communicate the lessons exposed by the data to improve safety in the future.
The Hagerman Institute: A Variety of Events Addressing Safety
The Hagerman Institute facilitates regular continuing education courses through a blend of professional, technical, and personal development topics. The technical sessions address safety topics on a regular basis, from overall job site safety to specific safety information on systems and materials we use during construction. For a different take on the concept of safety, a speaker from Circle City Safety recently shared a two-part series on defending ourselves when encountering danger. The Hagerman Institute also hosts more in-depth, day-long events to help our employees grow and develop. This past year, The Hagerman Institute held a Masonry Coalition meeting, where masons from our Fishers and Fort Wayne offices met for a day of educational content, including a safety talk. This fall, The Hagerman Institute will host a subcontractor safety summit in both the Fishers and Fort Wayne office locations. With the goal to form better teams and increase their awareness of safety, the event will help subcontractors understand Hagerman’s expectations and foster dialogue related to challenges and opportunities.
