Grant Seeking for Individuals

Grant funds for individual endeavors such as education, research and artistic pursuits are not that easy to find. Attend this class to learn about
the Foundation Grants to Individuals database, GrantSpace.org and
other helpful resources.
A working knowledge of the Internet and Windows is needed for this
hands-on session.

How to write a press release
and get it published

Lee Howard, The Day's Community Editor, and Amanda Hutchinson, Assistant Editor, will meet with the public to offer advice about how to write a press release and get it into both The Day and the Times weekly newspapers.
We will cover the critical information that must be included, offer tips for getting
our attention, how to get calendar information into the paper, and strategies for dealing with the press.

Youth Mental Health First Aid
Thursday, April 5 and Friday, April 6
9:30 am - 2:00 pm
A young person you know could be experiencing a mental health
or substance abuse problem.
Learn an action plan to help.
Anyone 18 or older can take Youth Mental Health First Aid, but it is recommended for those who regularly have contact with young people ages 12-18 (such as teachers, coaches, social workers, faith leaders and other caring citizens).

The Family Life of Pileated Woodpeckers

Spy on a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers for six weeks
during the breeding season-and fall in love at first flight!
Carrie Crompton
is an apprentice in the Master Naturalist program at
Goodwin Conservation Center. She discovered a pair of pileated woodpeckers nesting near her home in Andover, CT and filmed their activities until the young fledged. These birds are becoming more abundant in the New England woods.
Once you've seen this program, you will very likely be seeing and
hearing more Pileated woodpeckers yourself!
