Dear Parents,
Our third quarter ended today.
Following through on one of our strategic plan goals, each report card this quarter will include comments/narratives beyond the canned comment codes provided by Rediker and the archdiocese. We are somewhat limited in the ways that we can produce these narratives but students in first through fifth grade will have a narrative from the homeroom teacher and possible additional comments. Each middle school student will receive comments from each teacher of a core subject. Although these might be brief, they will be something different than the canned comments. This is our first attempt at this. We will continue to modify it in the future but we plan to continue with parent/teacher conferences after the first quarter, report cards with comment/narratives after the third quarter and standard report cards after second and fourth quarter.
It will take us a little time to get the report cards completed and edited. We anticipate posting them to the parent portals on Rediker on Monday, April 8.

to Address Transparency, Safety, and Role of Lay People
Kim Fiorentino, Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Washington, and other leaders of the parish (both lay and clerical) will speak to transparency, safety of children, and the role of lay people in the Church in a 90-minute session that will include time for questions from the audience. Additional issues raised last fall will be addressed in future activities including the upcoming Corbett Lecture Series. Please join us on March 31st and invite friends who have been struggling with these issues and the Church.

Come one, come all on Easter Sunday! While you are sitting at 9am Mass, the Easter bunny's helpers will be outside hiding eggs for everyone! So, when you leave church, stop by and find an egg! All children will get an egg, and a few lucky winners will find that their egg holds a special prize! If you are heading to 10:30 Mass, you can hunt on your way in to church! (Egg hunt will be held from approximately (9:50am to 10:25am).

Nyumbani Home in Kenya needs
Communion Dresses!!
Please donate by April 8.
Founded as an orphanage in 1992 by Father Angelo D'Agostino, S.J. and dedicated to serving infants and children with HIV/AIDS, Nyumbani provides a home, health care, education, and other services to more than 4000 children annually. A number of Blessed Sacrament families have supported Father Dag's and Nyumbani's work over the years.
Due to a recent fire at Nyumbani, there is a great need for all sizes of these special dresses which will be joyously worn at the celebration of the First Communion. These dresses are saved and passed down each year to a new group.
A Nyumbani Board member will be traveling to Kenya in April and so our deadline for receipt is Monday, April 8.
Please drop dress donations or check donations of any amount (made payable to "Nyumbani" with "First Communion" in the memo line) at the Social Concerns office or school main office.

Dear Parents,
As the school year begins to wind down and the HSA's big fundraising events are behind us, however, there are still ways to help raise money for the HSA. Here are a few things you can do to continue to support the school:
1. Amazon - Remember to click on the logo on the bsstoday.org homepage before you place any purchases on Amazon.
2. Box Tops - it might seem futile, but every Top gets us .10. We raise about $800 from this effort every year. We can do better. Keep clipping.
3. Dining Nights - We have dining nights every month. Our next one is April 4th at Potomac Pizza.
4. Spirit Wear - This is an easy win-win. Your child gets to have the freshest BSS apparel, and the HSA makes a little money.
5. Uniform Exchange - Although more of a service than a fundraiser, the HSA does generate a little bit of income from this service. The Uniform Exchange is open to anyone. Please donate to it and buy from it. It's a great way to stay green as we reuse uniforms that are in good shape! The April UE's are scheduled for 4/1 and 4/10. See below for times.
6. Benefit Sign-Up Parties - Sign-Up Parties are a great way to build community, and they also help raise funds for the HSA. So sign up today!
Thank-you for all you do! Let's finish this year strong with fundraising, and position the BSS HSA to have a successful and abundant 2019-2020.
