Admin Update
Dear WCA Families,
Can you believe how close we are to the end of the school year? Such an exciting time of year for WCA! Thank you to Jessica Clonts, PTO and parents for spoiling the staff during Teacher Appreciation Week. We appreciate you very much!
We also wanted to thank Alejandra Hernandez and
100% Street Tacos for serving up delicious tacos to students and staff yesterday for our Cinco de Mayo celebration.
Turf Field!
We are excited to announce that WCA will be replacing the field with turf for next school year. This will be an amazing addition to our playground, and we know the students will be beyond excited to have all of the extra room to play at recess and intramurals! This will also add to our school sports opportunities for the 18/19 school year!
18/19 School Year: Change in Middle School Dress Code
After receiving feedback from over 100 middle school parents, we were able to move forward with a final decision for the middle school dress code for next year.
Effective for the 2018-19 school year, the 5th - 8th grade middle school formal uniform Oxford Shirt and Peter Pan Blouse will be light blue. The plaid will remain the same as elementary.
Sincerely,
WCA Admin

WCA will be holding its second science fair on
Wednesday, May 23, from 6:30pm - 8:00pm.
Participants
will be responsible for choosing a project from

Your
hypothesis
prior to beginning the project.
-
How you used the
scientific method.
-
Any
data (
pictures drawn or printed with explanations is fine).
-
The
conclusions
you drew at the end of the project, and what you
learned
by doing the project.
-
A demonstration: bring the end results of your project and poster board (
tri-fold recommended) for display at the science fair.
-
Students must be able to explain their project and all of the above. Please allow them to do as much of it as possible independently.
You may display your information in any way you would like, but keep in mind that displays must sit on a table and will be visible as people walk by. If you have any questions, please contact Kate Parker.

Message from the Registrar
Do you know how to access your student's information through your Parent Portal account? We are moving towards electronic grades and report cards for the 18/19 school year, and this will require all parents to access grades/report cards through Parent Portal. Please reach out to
Mary Bertke before the end of this school year if you do not know how to access your Parent Portal account.
In addition, parents will be asked to complete
Express Check-In this summer, and will need to have a Parent Portal Username and Password to complete this process. Express Check-In is the process all parents must complete to verify that your child's school has the correct contact information, etc. If you do not complete the Express Check-In over the summer, you will not have access to electronic grades/report cards next year. Thank you!

School Yearbook
You may still order a yearbook! Please note that you will have to pay shipping and handling, and the book will be delivered to your house and not the school. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Pelley.
*
Some parents are ordering and still receiving free shipping, and those books will be delivered to the school. The company determines the cutoff for that; we are merely relaying information from TreeRing to parents. Thank you for a wonderful year of memories that filled the book!

18-19 School Supply Kits
2018-19 school supply lists are being finalized. PTO will again be giving parents the opportunity to purchase school supply kits. Save yourself trips to the store and benefit our school at the same time.
Stay tuned!
