Lyon Homes

The first phase of Lyon Homes updates 118 units to preserve this important workforce housing community in Turner Station. Originally opened in 1942, these houses were built for an influx of African-American workers at the nearby steel mill during WWII.  The scope of work includes a complete gut-renovation to each unit.  Residents remain in the community during construction in temporary units before returning to their renovated home.  Some residents have resided in the close-knit community of Lyon Homes for over 60 years.

Fence & Deck Connection worked with Southway Builders Inc,  to supply and install premium aluminum railing, handicap accessible ramps and wood benches and wall coverings for this historical rental complex.  Continue below to learn more about this project.

Lyon Homes Porch & Ramp Railing
 New front porches with ADA accessible ramps on all UFAS units. Porches / ramps were built using pressure treated lumber, with Ultralox aluminum railings and ADA grab rail.



Lyon Homes Porch & Stair Railing
Fence & Deck Connection replaced old rusted steel railings with low maintenance Ultralox Aluminum Railing with Victorian top cap on all units.



Lyon Homes Porch Benches
Pressure treated wood benches and wall coverings were installed to both provide seating on the front porch as well as to cover the aging brick exteriors



Lyon Homes Community Dumpster Enclosure
 Installed a 20 foot wide x 12 foot 8 inch high chain link dumpster enclosure with black slats, set into concrete and includes a 20 foot double gate.
