New Jersey's Connected Economy: Measuring the Ripple Effect of Economic Policy
ESI was commissioned  by the New Jersey Policy Research Organization (NJPRO) Foundation to conduct an economic impact analysis of the State of New Jersey's economy. More explicitly, the report's analysis describes the broader economic impacts that the gain or loss of jobs in key industry clusters would have on the state economy, as well as the subsequent impacts on other industries and regions of the state. 
Highlights
PYSC Game On Philly! 
ESI partnered with the Philadelphia Youth Sports Collaborative to develop Game On Philly!, a Sports-Based Youth Development initiative. The report outlines the goals of youth sports programs in Philadelphia and the necessary measures to attain them. Follow #GameOnPhilly on social media for updates.
Morgan State EIS 
ESI conducted an economic impact study for Morgan State University, reporting an impact of nearly $1 billion on the State of Maryland and $574 million on the city of Baltimore. The University also supports more than 6,500 jobs and generates $47 million in state tax revenues.

Steven Spalding's planning practice, Point A Consulting, recently completed a strategic business plan and conceptual master plan for Agricenter International, a 1000-acre complex in Memphis devoted to agricultural research and economic development.
Natalie Nixon spoke to various leadership teams across the country including Franklin Templeton Investments in San Mateo, CA. She also recently published a blog post titled, " 6 Ways Great Leaders Spark & Navigate Change". 
Sidney Wong has begun writing a book on Chinese architects Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin and their influence on city planning, coming next year. Sidney has also been leading a team in conducting the first study of demographic multipliers and profile for higher density development in the Delaware Valley Region.
Bernie Markstein authored and was featured in a release written for Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC) estimating state construction unemployment rates. 
Tom Guccione, a former ESI intern, is now part of our full-time staff as a research analyst. Congratulations and welcome back! 
Jim Flynn, of our joint venture CONDOInsight, has been accepted to the University of Colorado to pursue a Ph.D. in Economics. We are sad to see him go, but excited for what lies ahead and wish him the best.

SEPTA will begin rolling out Key Card Regional Rail passes on August 1. Regional Rail riders will be able to use a Key Card to travel to and from 19 selected Zone 4 stations.
Fairmount Park Conservancy, in partnership with Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, Mural Arts, PORT, and Heads of State, is expanding The Oval+ further than previous years. It will open July 20th and feature a new pedestrian walkway and play areas.

The University of Chicago will no longer require applicants for the undergraduate college to submit SAT and ACT scores. While prospective students may still submit standardized test scores, they are now allowed to replace them with nontraditional materials.
