Attendees will follow a comprehensive curriculum conveying what every�campus Title IX Coordinator and Administrator needs to know, spending four days with trainers who are some of the most�knowledgeable experts on the topics. This comprehensive course will be intense, practical and full of opportunities to apply the skills imparted in the training that take the content off the page and onto your campus. You will be able to draw knowledge from a large pool of expert faculty, as well as network with fellow Title IX coordinators and administrators.
Four-Day Title IX Investigator Comprehensive Training & Certification Course
January 27th - 30th, 2014
ATIXA will be offering a comprehensive four-day Civil Rights/Title IX Investigation Training, expanding beyond our popular two-day Introductory trainings with the addition of an Advanced course. Attendees will follow a comprehensive curriculum conveying what every�campus Title IX Investigator needs to know to do that job and do it well.�Full of case studies and�opportunities to apply the skills imparted in the training, this course will place you in the best possible�position to respond to and defend institutional competence on�discrimination grievances.
Two-Day Title IX Investigator Introductory Training & Certification Course
January 27th & 28th, 2014
Designed for new Title IX Investigators or those who have had limited investigations training, this two-day introductory training will provide attendees a basic foundation for Title IX and civil rights investigative processes.
Two-Day Title IX Coordinator and Administrator Advanced Training & Certification Course
January 28th & 29th, 2014
This two-day training will be facilitated as a train-the-trainer event, with a heavy emphasis on imparting practical skills that Title IX Coordinators, Administrators and Deputies need to fulfill their duties to their campuses, and take their expertise to the next level.�This course is designed for knowledgeable and experienced coordinators and deputies, and those who have completed the ATIXA Title IX Administrator four-day Certification Course (not a prerequisite). Participants will be able to draw on the knowledge of the expert faculty, apply skills with practical exercises and network with fellow Title IX coordinators and administrators.

January 29th & 30th, 2014
ATIXA will also be offering a two-day Advanced Investigator Training & Certification Course. This course is designed for knowledgeable and experienced investigators and administrators, and those who have completed the ATIXA Title IX Comprehensive Investigator Training & Certification Course (not a prerequisite). This course will be full of case studies, practical application and opportunities for individual and team discussion. The Investigator training will place you in the best possible�position to respond to and defend institutional competence on�discrimination grievances.

Registration
Registration rates include complimentary breakfast, mid-morning coffee and tea service, and afternoon snack to all attendees. All other meals, lodging and transportation costs will be paid by the participants. Registration fees apply to all attendees, including retainer clients. ATIXA Members receive a 15% discount on all registration fees.

The seminar will be held at the�Hyatt Regency New Orleans�(601 Loyola Avenue, New Orleans, LA, 70113).

A Developmental Framework for a Code of Student Conduct
Six higher education law and policy experts have collaborated to offer a new model code of student conduct to the field. You can access the free model with this link, and we also invite you to contribute to our open-source code Wiki project, which allows the entire field to contribute to, critique and strengthen this model. Access the Wiki here. You'll find this model a substantial departure from previous model codes, while it also builds on their significant foundations. We hope you will find our model useful in your future code revision efforts. The Title IX OCR Dear Colleague Letter (April 4, 2011) tells us we must train all of our employees on reporting responsibilities. How are we supposed to do that? We’ve heard your requests for ATIXA to create the tool you need, and now you can train your employees with ease, online. ATIXA has developed an online, comprehensive training tool designed to inform employees about their duty to report sexual abuse, sexual misconduct and other behaviors that fall under Title IX. This training can be used in large groups or individually, and is appropriate for all employees, including staff, administrators and faculty.
The training covers reporting of sex and gender discrimination incidents, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, bullying, stalking and related behaviors, thus satisfying the expectations of Title IX and Title VII. It also addresses the reporting of crimes and crime statistics for Clery Act compliance, when those crimes intersect with Title IX and Title VII (as in the case of sexual assault). Title IX: The Basics

Know Your IX is a campaign that aims to educate all college students in the U.S. about their rights under Title IX. Its purpose is to arm sexual violence survivors with information to help them advocate for themselves during their schools’ grievance proceedings and, if Title IX guarantees are not respected, file a complaint against their institution with the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights. They have published a website, PDF, and video of nine things to know about your Title IX rights and an institution's responsibilities.

If an institution learns of harassment that occurs at one of these sites, the institution should still conduct a preliminary inquiry to see whether there is sufficient information or evidence for the institution to address the situation. Under Title IX, an institution has an obligation to address behavior when the institution has control over both the harasser and the context of the harassment. Chances are, when there is no written agreement or MOU in place, your control over the context of the harassment and the harasser is probably negligible. Accordingly, focus on what you can control.
