Sunday Breakfast
Breakfast this Sunday, August 1, will be provided by guest chefs, Rip & Ann Phillips.

Our Sunday class topic is on "The Roots of Christian Mysticism". Taught by Father Michael, this course will last for several weeks.

Please plan on joining everyone in Board Hall between 8:30am and 9:45 where you will not only enjoy great food but a time for fellowship.

SAVE THE DATE!!
On Friday, September 13th at 7:00pm, the Rt. Rev. Terry Allen White, Bishop of Kentucky, will, God willing, ordain the Rev. Allison Caudill to the Sacred Order of Priests here at St. Luke's

More details will be forthcoming in the weeks to come.  Ordinations are relatively rare events in the life of a parish, and they are incredibly powerful spiritual experiences, so I hope we can all be together that night .

Lemonade on the Lawn is back!

Wednesday Evening Worship Resumes
Our Wednesday worship will resume on August 21st at 6:00pm, and we'll be making some changes to how we've done it before.

First, we'll start with a brief sing-along with hymns from a wide-range of sources, including many familiar favorites not in our regular Hymnal.

Then we'll move on to Evening Prayer and Holy Communion.  In the past, this entire service was said, but we will start chanting at least one piece of this liturgy.  For those who think they can't sing, don't let this ward you away.  Trust me, you'll enjoy it more than you might think.

Only a very small percentage of people are truly "tone-deaf," and if you can sing along with the radio, where the songs are designed to be sung by a single person instead of a crowd of people, then this sacred music, which is specifically designed to be sung by everyone, will be well within your range.  And besides, the Psalm says, "Make a joyful noise."

Look forward to seeing you at our midweek worship soon.

Sing Along
Let's get together for a Sing-Along on Monday, August 26th at 6:30pm in the Church. There are only so many hymns we can sing during worship every weekend.  This will give us a chance to enjoy some of our favorites that we don't get to sing very often.

In addition to the Hymnal 1982 and Songs of Praise and Worship, we'll have a selection of several dozen pieces to choose from that aren't in either of those books.  Golden oldies you might have grown up on, especially if you were once Baptist, Methodist, etc., like "Because He Lives," "How Great Thou Art," "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms," and many, many more.  We sing about an hour, longer if we like.

Vestry Person of the Day for August 4

Doug Sanders

The Vestry Person on Duty (VPOD) is responsible for assisting the Rector with welcoming newcomers and closing the church after worship has been conducted.
