For Craig Kirby, '85, A Public Service Career Has Fit Him to a Tee
Dayton, Ohio, native Craig Kirby (back right) became interested in public service at Albion College, and that interest has taken him to Washington, D.C., where he has worked for a president, a vice president and senators, as well as rubbed elbows with international figures. MLK Convocation Rescheduled
The extreme cold weather at the end of January forced the postponement of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Convocation and Community Celebration. The event, featuring Detroit Free Press columnist Rochelle Riley, now takes place on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. in Albion's Bohm Theatre. Learn more »

Chemistry's Lisa Lewis Gains New Perspective Through NSF Fellowship
Lewis is in the middle of a one-year NSF fellowship in Washington, D.C., studying Big Data and its application for materials genome research. Lewis notes that her work may eventually enhance the productivity and efficiency of materials researchers. "It’s a new way of doing science, and it requires scientists to change the way we catalog, share and use data," she says. Learn more »

Sharing the Game of Lacrosse
Nearly 60 local children braved a January 19 snowstorm to turn out for a free lacrosse clinic sponsored by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. "It's very important for us to be sharing the game because it's not one of the popular sports that many kids are introduced to," said women's team captain Carly Schwarz, '21. "Hopefully my teammates and I, as well as the men's team, were able to maximize the fun that they all had." Learn more »
Passion Drives Philanthropy for Larry Schook, '72
"Here's this little college in rural Michigan and it has provided me with tools to compete on a global setting. It's a reflection of that and how fortunate my life has been because of Albion," says Larry Schook, '72, of his recent estate gift to Albion College. Along with running an internationally respected genomics research lab at the University of Illinois, Schook is working to encourage classmates to make similar gifts before their 50th class reunion.
