Practice of the Week:
Stay on Your Path and Explore New Paths    From Jun 15 through Jul 31, we won't be highlighting any particular Practices. In the meantime, stay on your path! And explore new paths! There are 165 "Practices of the Week" listed and indexed HERE. Look it over and choose your own Practices to highlight until Aug.
Lifespan Religious Education   I look forward to seeing those of you who will be attending the Juneteenth service this Sunday. There will be supervised games for children of all ages. It is a great opportunity for bonding over the summer. Children are welcome to invite a friend to join in the fun. Families can also attend the service together. RE NEWS
Upcoming Summer Worship Services

"Juneteenth"
Petra Thombs
We begin summer services with our annual celebration of the holiday Juneteenth, commemorating the end of slavery in the US. African drummer Maxwell Kofi Donkor is our special musical guest. Please join us in the sanctuary!

Sun Jul 1, 10:00am, Fellowship Hall
"Scaling Up by Scaling Down"
Rev. LoraKim Joyner
In difficult times we need to engage beyond measure, beyond profit, and beyond reason. By scaling down to the minute and intimate, faith leads us in building a community of resistance, resilience, and solidarity. We can scale up to more community by scaling down to the beauty and the loss that will not let us go.
Juneteenth

This Sunday is our annual celebration of the holiday Juneteenth. Also known as Freedom Day, Juneteenth started in Texas as an annual observance of June 19, 1865, the date when Union troops arrived after the Civil War and officially ended slavery there. Juneteenth has now been recognized as a ceremonial holiday about freedom by New York and forty-four other states. Please join us!
Call for Summer Musicians

Attention CUUC singers, instrumentalists, and music lovers: share your gifts at our summer services! Most Sundays we have a pianist for hymns, and we would love to have volunteers offer our other musical sections such as centering music before the service starts, or  offertory, or to serve as our weekly hymn leader. We invite you to lend your talents to make our friendly, low-key summer worships more personal and special. Contact: Kim Force ([email protected]).

Summer Services in Fellowship Hall

Starting Sun Jul 1, 10:00am, Fellowship Hall
Attend our Summer Services in air-conditioned Fellowship Hall. Services are led by Members and Friends of CUUC, outside speakers, and guest ministers. Music is provided by our talented musicians and special guests (centering music starts at 9:50am). The nursery is staffed for young children. Stay after worship for light refreshments and conversation. Regular services and religious education classes will begin again Sun Sep 9. Hope to see you here this summer!

There's Still Time to Give the Gift of Reading

Research shows that six books is all it takes for a child to maintain their reading level in the new school year. While the summer might feel long, this chance to donate is ending on Friday, June 29. Help us give at-risk kids in our neighborhoods the boost they need to be ready when school starts again - visit daymaker.com/g/westchesterUU

Share the Plate for June: Community Housing Innovations

Half our non-pledge collection will go to Community Housing Innovations (CHI), a provider of emergency, transitional, and permanent housing. CHI finds emergency shelter for 1,000 adults and children each night. Exec Dir Alexander Roberts has spoken at CUUC about Westchester's affordable housing crisis, and did not request or receive an honorarium. We can show appreciation for his outreach by donating generously.

Your Moment of Zen  Gray Wolf attended meetings sporadically, and when she came she usually sat silent during the question period. However, she came to hear Brown Bear and spoke up, saying, "We dedicate our sutras to the enlightenment of bushes and grasses. This doesn't seem so likely somehow." Brown Bear... READ MORE
