Music Notes: We welcome bass soloist Dr. Michael Peters this Sunday presenting an aria from G.F. Handel's oratorio Judas Maccabeus and a setting of the hymn, We Gather Together. Michael is a soloist in the Covenant choir and teaches at Case Western Reserve University.
Summer Hymn Requests
Haven't sung your favorite hymn in a while? Here's your chance. Let us know your hymn request(s) and a possible date for your request over the summer months of June, July, and August. You may submit up to two hymns (in order of priority). Please submit hymn titles from either our current pew hymnal or the new "Glory to God" hymnal.

Children:
This Sunday in worship, before leaving for Sunday School, the children will collect food and financial donations for our Covenant Food Pantry, open the last Wednesday and Friday of each month, Thursday afternoons in the Connection Center for students, and for emergencies.
The Pantry can especially use canned stew, canned vegetables, pudding cups, fruit cups, spam/canned meat, pasta,spaghetti sauce, jelly/jam, chili, corn muffin mix, and spagettios.

Common Ground
Join us after worship this Sunday for food and conversation
On
Sunday, June 24, 2018
, Common Ground will bring residents of Cuyahoga, Lake, and Geauga counties together for a day of community conversation. This annual event brings people together around a common table in neighborhoods across our region. This year's theme is "Why Does Place Matter?" At our Common Ground event, we will be asking questions about how we create community beyond the walls of the church and bring people together to support and nurture one another in our community of University Circle. Covenant members who plan to attend are asked to bring either a salad or dessert to share.

Session Updates
At the stated meeting of May 23, we approved the formation of a TheoEd Task Force, which will assess and make recommendations for innovative forms of theological education at the church. As part of their work, task force members will meet in October with this year's Covenant Lecturer, the Rev. Dr. Ryan Bonfiglio, Scholar in Residence at First Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia, to discuss some of the educational offerings he has developed. One of these is the Half-Truths video/discussion course that we will be offering in July (see article below), so come check it out and let us know what you think! At the upcoming session meeting on Wednesday, June 27, we will be meeting with attorneys to gather more information about ways the church can engage in the ongoing efforts to address gun violence in our community and across the country. We will also be solidifying plans for a summer retreat during which we
work on articulating the core values of our church and discuss a report from the group that went to Atlanta in April.

Church Happenings
Last Saturday, several Saturday Tutoring volunteers from the church and community gather for a surprise party to honor outgoing STP founder and director, Linda Wilson. We are so grateful for Linda's faithful work in building and sustaining the tutoring program.
We extend our farewell and gratitude to music department intern, Abraham Ross, as this is his final
Sunday
at Covenant. Abe moves on next to the staff of the Duke University Chapel as organ scholar.
Last Saturday, our communications manager, Aisha Newton, attended the Habitat for Humanity 5K with her mother's dog Iya.

Please keep in prayer the six youth and three adults who will be traveling to Memphis, TN from
June 17-22
for a week of worship, service and fellowship with Memphis Youth Mission. Thank you for all the ways in which you support our youth. We look forward to sharing with you our experiences upon our return.

Outreach Opportunities
 Summer Desserts for Transplant House This summer, COTC is again working with our Mission Partners at Transplant House to provide Wednesday
night desserts for the residents and their families, in conjunction with Wade Oval Wednesdays. You can help by donating cash ($11 buys one quart of ice cream), or providing treats to serve 12 people. Sign up online here or in the church office. For more information, contact Mary Anne Bromelmeier.

The Saturday Tutoring Program "Wish List"
The tutoring programs needs
"gently used" items, including the following: 2 tablets, 3 computers, calculators for all ages as well as books and educational games.

Summer Learning
Half-Truths: "God Helps Those Who Help Themselves," and Other Things the Bible Doesn't Say
This video and discussion course will take place on Sundays in July from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm in our newly renovated Dowd Commons on the lower level of the church. A repeat of Sunday's material will occur from 5:30-6:30 pm on Thursday Evenings. Join us for a time of learning and dialogue!
