General Membership Meeting and Elections
The 2019 General Membership Meeting was held on Sunday, March 31, 2019 after church services. The meeting was opened with a prayer led by Fr. Nareg Terterian.
Mr. Arthur Hairabedian was voted as the Chairman of the day and Dr. Arthur Kubikian as the Vice Chairman. Mrs. Nairy Zohrabian and Mrs. Vicky Hagobian were voted as the recording Secretaries (Armenian & English).
Mr. Veh Bezdikian addressed the meeting as a member of the Executive Council of the Prelacy.
Fr. Nareg Terterian presented the Pastor's report.
The Chairman's report was prepared by Dr. Aram Cazazian. He took the opportunity to give thanks to everyone for their continuous support for our Church and community.
A detailed Treasure Report was given by Mrs. Sonya Nenejian. The Auditing Committee report was presented by Mr. Krikor Krikorian.
The Nominating Committee report was presented by Mr. Veh Bezdikian.
The Church Members elected, the following members to serve on the Board of Trustees: Mrs. Alina Kochoumian, Mrs. Victoria Hagobian, Mr. Simon Bardizbanian, Mr. Razmik Nenejian, Mrs. Diane Boyadjian, Mr. Berdj Agopian and Mr. Karnig Minassian as an alternate.
Mr. Harry Seoylemezian and Mrs. Nyrie Bedrossian were elected as delegate for the National Representative Assembly.
The Membership Meeting was concluded by Fr. Nareg Terterian with the closing prayer.

On Friday evening March 29, 2019,The Community of St. Sarkis Church observed the fourth Lenten Vesper Service of the season. Church services were presided over by His Eminance Archbishop Oshagan Choloyan and Rev. Fr. Nareg Terterian.
Following Church Services, Fr. Nareg Terterian lead a Bible study session called Eternal Values - The Rich Man & Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31).
After the Bible Study, congregants enjoyed a lovely spread of Lenten food prepared by Mrs. Zepiur Ardzivian, Mrs. Evelyn Nenejian and Mrs. Arpi Kahvedjian.
The ffith Lenten vesper service, "Abril" A Presentation by Professor Siobhan Nash-Marshall worship with Salt & Light Youth Group will take place tonight at 6:00 PM.
The fellowship hour of this evening will be hosted by Mrs. Jeanette Nenejian, Mrs. Sonya Nenejian and Mrs. Liza Kabarajian.
Join us tonight to pray the great vespers of the Armenian Church, learn more about the tenets of our faith and savor traditional Lenten homemade foods.

THE SECOND EPISTLE OF ST. PAUL TO THE CORINTHIANS (6.16-7.1)
What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said,
"I will live in them and walk among them,
and I will be their God,
and they shall be my people.
Therefore come out from them,
and be separate from them, says the Lord,
and touch nothing unclean;
then I will welcome you,
and I will be your father,
and you shall be my sons and daughters,
says the Lord Almighty."
Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and of spirit, making holiness perfect in the fear of God.
ՊՕՂՈՍ ԱՌԱՔԵԱԼԻ ԵՐԿՐՈՐԴ ՆԱՄԱԿԸ ԿՈՐՆԹԱՑԻՆԵՐՈՒՆ (6.16-7.1)
Ի՞նչ նմանութիւն կայ Աստուծոյ տաճարին եւ մեհեաններուն միջեւ:
Արդարեւ, մե՛նք ենք կենդանի Աստուծոյ տաճարը, ինչպէս Աստուած ինք ըսաւ.- «Անոնց մէջ պիտի բնակիմ եւ անոնց հետ պիտի ապրիմ: Ես իրենց Աստուածը պիտի ըլլամ եւ անոնք՝ իմ ժողովուրդս»:
Ահա թէ ինչո՛ւ Աստուած կը հրահանգէ մեզի.- «Անջատ եւ հեռո՛ւ կեցէք հեթանոսներէն. պիղծ բաներու մի՛ դպչիք, եւ ես ձեզ պիտի ընդունիմ: Ես ձեզի Հայր պիտի ըլլամ եւ դուք իմ տղաքս ու աղջիկներս պիտի ըլլաք,- կ՚ըսէ ամենակալ Տէրը»:
Սիրելինե՛ր, այս խոստումները մեզի եղած են: Ուստի հեռո՛ւ մնանք մարմնական եւ հոգեկան ամէն պղծութենէ, մենք մեզ կատարելապէս մաքրենք՝ Աստուծոյ երկիւղովը ապրելով:
THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST ACCORDING TO LUKE (1.26-38)
In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary. And he came to her and said, "Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you." But she was much perplexed by his words and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. The angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And now, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his ancestor David. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end." Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I am a virgin?" The angel said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be holy; he will be called Son of God. And now, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month for her who was said to be barren. For nothing will be impossible with God." Then Mary said, "Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word." Then the angel departed from her.
ՅԻՍՈՒՍ ՔՐԻՍՏՈՍԻ ԱՒԵՏԱՐԱՆԸ ԸՍՏ ՂՈՒԿԱՍԻ (1.26-38)
Եղիսաբէթի յղութեան վեցերորդ ամսուան, Աստուած Գաբրիէլ հրեշտակը ղրկեց Գալիլեայի Նազարէթ քաղաքը, կոյսի մը մօտ, որ նշանուած էր Դաւիթի սերունդէն Յովսէփ անունով մէկու մը հետ: Կոյսին անունը Մարիամ էր: Հրեշտակը Մարիամի գալով ըսաւ.- Ուրախացիր, շնորհալի կոյս, որովհետեւ Աստուած քեզի հետ է:
Մարիամ այս խօսքին վրայ խռովեցաւ. կը մտածեր թէ ինչ կը նշանակէ այս ողջոյնը: Սակայն հրեշտակը ըսաւ իրեն.- Մի վախնար, Մարիամ, որովհետեւ Աստուծոյ շնորհքին արժանացար: Ահա պիտի յղանաս եւ զաւակ մը ծնիս, որ Յիսուս պիտի կոչես: Անիկա մեծ պիտի ըլլայ եւ Բարձրեալին Որդին պիտի կոչուի: Տէր Աստուած անոր պիտի տայ իր հօրը՝ Դաւիթի գահը, եւ անիկա Յակոբի սերունդներուն վրայ յաւիտեանս պիտի թագաւորէ: Անոր թագաւորութիւնը անվախճան պիտի ըլլայ:
Մարիամ ըսաւ հրեշտակին.- Ատիկա ի՞նչպէս կրնայ պատահիլ, երբ ամուսնացած չեմ:
Հրեշտակը պատասխանեց.- Սուրբ Հոգին քեզի պիտի գայ եւ Բարձրեալին զօրութիւնը քու վրադ պիտի հանգչի. ուստի ծնելիք զաւակդ սուրբ է եւ Աստուծոյ Որդի պիտի կոչուի: Ահա ազգականդ Եղիսաբէթն ալ, հակառակ ծեր եւ ամուլ ըլլալուն՝ վեցերորդ ամիսն է որ յղի է: Գիտցիր, որ Աստուծոյ համար անկարելի բան չկայ:
Մարիամ ըսաւ.- Աստուծոյ աղախինն եմ, թող քու ըսածդ ըլլայ:
Ապա հրեշտակը գնաց Մարիամի քովէն:

SUNDAY OF ADVENT
This Sunday, April 7, is the sixth and final Sunday of Great Lent, known as Sunday of Advent (Galstyan Kiraki). On Advent Sunday we are asked to ponder the mystery of the first coming of Christ and especially his second coming which is a fundamental tenet of our Christian faith, and which is mentioned in the prayers read this Sunday. Christ came to the world for the salvation of humanity. We are told to be ready at all times because He will come again for the judgment of sinners, and when the righteous will become worthy of entering the Kingdom of God. "Then people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. He will send out his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven." (Mark 13:26-27)
Advent Sunday has its own special hymn, which proclaims that the apostles knew the mystery of the advent of Christ. The story of the expulsion from paradise is repeated and an appeal is made to Christ to ask the Heavenly Father to establish peace on earth. Sunday of Advent is in preparation for next Sunday, Palm Sunday, which is the celebration of the glorious entry of our Lord into Jerusalem and the beginning of Holy Week.
The terrible manifestation of your glory which will be in your second coming David foresaw and announced beforehand by the Holy Spirit's inspiration, God will come openly, fire will burn before him. Then, O Jesus, spare us, have compassion, O Christ and have mercy.
Mother of God unwedded, bride of heaven on earth, when in the sight of light you sit at the right hand of your only-begotten beseech him for us to deliver us from the awful flame, to number us with the righteous that we also may sing glory with the heavenly ones.

ST. GREGORY'S COMMITMENT TO THE PIT
During Great Lent, saint days are commemorated only on Saturdays. During the remainder of the year saints can be honored on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Saturdays.
This Saturday, April 6, the Armenian Church celebrates one of the three days in its liturgical calendar devoted to St. Gregory the Illuminator, the patron saint of the Armenian Church. The three days are: Descend into the Pit, Emergence from the Pit, and Discovery of his remains. This Saturday is the commemoration of his commitment to the Deep Pit (Khor Virab).
Gregory maintained his faith and refused to renounce Christ. As a result he endured many tortures and his final punishment was banishment into a deep pit where he remained for a period of thirteen or more years. Miraculously he survived, thanks to his faith and according to tradition an angelic woman (identity unknown) who lowered food and water into the pit.
The Monastery of Khor Virab is a popular destination for tourists and pilgrims who visit Armenia. The monastery was built on the exact location where St. Gregory was imprisoned. The pit is accessible and it is possible for visitors to climb down the ladder (27 steep steps) into the pit. The church, named Sourp Asdvadzadzin, dates to the 17
th
century. The area is one of the most beautiful in Armenia and provides stunning views of Ararat. The area surrounding Khor Virab is the site of the ancient Armenian capital, Artashat, founded by King Artashes I about 180 BC.
Come, let us exalt on this day the spreader of the spiritual light to us who sat in darkness, the holy patriarch Gregory. Come, you children instructed y him, exalt on this day the distributor to the sons of Torkom of the undefiled gifts of the Holy Spirit who gave us a new birth as sons of the light. Come, you children instructed by him, exalt on this day the interpreter of the divine word in the land of Armenia. On this day the Church and her children sing with the angels, on this day of memory of the enlightener ascribing glory to God in the highest.

ANNUNCIATION TO THE HOLY MOTHER OF GOD
This Sunday, April 7, is the Annunciation to the Virgin Mary that is celebrated nine months before the Nativity. It is the celebration of the announcing of the forthcoming birth of Christ to the Virgin Mary as recorded in the Gospel of Luke.
"And behold. You will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of his kingdom there will be no end." (Luke 1:31-33)
"The unspeakable mystery hidden from the nations and ages has been revealed today by the descent of the archangel to the holy virgin Mary, whom we have as intercessor for our souls before the Lord. ...O joy of our sorrowful nature, blessed virgin Mary; at the greeting of the good news you received and bore in yourself the giver of the law of greeting. Always intercede for our souls before him."
