A Super-Star Prom Night!
Lights, camera, smiles!

On Friday, May 18th at Council Rock High School South, Autism Cares Foundation held their annual prom. This year, our special friends were treated to "A Night at the Oscars!"

Teens and Young Adults with autism and other special needs enjoyed an evening full of A-list glitz and glamour. A few hours prior to the event, special guests were given an oscar-worthy hair & makeup treatment by Stephanie Mishler and her non-profit, Home By Midnight.

The party began with a delicious dinner, by B&T Catering. After feeding their appetites, guests went out on the dance floor to show us their best moves to tunes provided by Dolan DJs. Forming new and old groups of friends, they then made their way over to our photographer for the evening from Kosola Productions to have a formal photo taken, which was then printed for a take-home memento. Check out some of these candid shots captured by our roaming photographer, Lisa Varley!

It was a night to remember, and a blast! We thank all of our hard-working staff and volunteers who helped transform the cafeteria with their creativity, and who got out on the dance floor to boogie with our special friends! A very special thank you goes to the Autistic Support Class at Council Rock High School North, who provided beautiful centerpieces for us!

A few parents echoed the same sentiment as the evening began. They expressed how much it meant to them to see their child with special needs attend a prom just like their other, typical siblings. We enjoy hosting our annual prom, to enrich the lives of those with autism and other special needs, and look forward to next year!
A welcome surprise from Chick-fil-A!
Last month, our Adult Day Services participants got a surprise visit from the Chick-fil-A cow!

Thank you to Chick-fil-A Whitman Square in Northeast Philadelphia for hosting an ACF Fundraiser in April. Representatives from the restaurant personally delivered a donation to our Resources Center in Southampton. We were so moo-ved by the gesture!

We appreciate Chick-fil-A's work to get involved in their community, and ours!
ACF gives back too!
Our Adult Services Program keeps busy out in the community and in our Resources Center.

Currently, members of the program volunteer every Monday and Thursday at National Greyhound Adoption Program where they walk the dogs. They also volunteer Tuesday and Wednesday at the Needle Guild of America, where they sort, fold, and organize clothes for the homeless and less fortunate. This helps in building responsibility and a sense of pride and accomplishment. They also learn about daily life skills that they then implement in our building and at home.

Our recent activities included a trip to the grocery store and a cooking lesson. Shopping trips to the local grocery stores include lessons in lists, decision making, and money management skills. Back at the Resources Center, they use their ingredients to make fabulous desserts and lunches following multi-step directions and measuring.

The Adult Services Program is keeping busy this summer!
