As AI Shapes the Future of Work, Employers Focus on Human Skills and Employees Crave Jobs with Purpose
April 24, 2018 l Businesswire l

After years of talking about disruption, executives are determined to turn talk into action. According to Mercer’s  2018   Global Talent Trends Study – Unlocking Growth in the Human Age , 91% of US companies have innovation on their core agenda this year and 95% are planning organizational design changes. At the same time, employees are seeking control of their personal and professional lives, with more than half asking for more flexible work options.

In pursuit of new technologies, executives must focus on the “human operating system” to power their organization. Mercer’s study identified five workforce trends for 2018: Change@Speed, Working with Purpose, Permanent Flexibility, Platform for Talent, and Digital from the Inside Out.

Texas city replaces buses with ride sharing
April 19, 2018  |  by Bus & Motorcoach News   |

ARLINGTON, Texas – This Texas city has ditched its bus service in favor of ride sharing.

Via, a startup with funding from Mercedes Benz, has an arrangement with Arlington to deploy 10 six-passenger Mercedes vans, primarily in the city’s downtown area. Residents will be able to hail the vans using a smartphone app, just like in any other city where Via operates. But the fares will be subsidized, keeping them $3 per ride or $10 for a weekly pass.

National Park Service announces CUA process
for road-based commercial tour operators
The National Park Services has notified the United Motorcoach Association that it is standardizing road-based tour commercial use authorization requirements and fees.

Beginning October 1, 2019, road-based tour operators (defined by NPS as “one or more persons traveling on an improved roadway on an itinerary that a company or individual has packaged, priced, or sold for leisure/recreational purposes”) are required to apply for and obtain a CUA for each NPS unit in which they operate. The standard process includes a $300 CUA application fee and a $5 per person CUA management fee.

Transportation-only services such as taxis, shuttles, and chartered motorcoach companies do not meet the definition of road-based commercial tours if those services are not prepackaged. Parks may issue these transportation-only providers a road-based transportation CUA if the park superintendent decides managing the use is necessary for preservation and proper management of park resources and values.

Road-based tour operators will pay the appropriate per-person entrance fee for each passenger upon entry to each park.

Please review the  attached memo  from the NPS and visit the  NPS CUA website  for further details.
