Join GO's $10-for-10 Campaign to Celebrate
10 Years  of Jobs and Justice in Asheville!

Since 2008, GO has worked to improve lives, empower neighborhoods, and increase community health and resiliency through innovative job training and placement programs and hands-on community projects. With your backing, we have created sustainable employment pathways in the green, culinary, and construction industries for hundreds of youth and adults from marginalized communities.

Last month, GO officially kicked off a year-long celebration of our 10th Anniversary! As we enter our tenth year of service in Asheville, we are looking back at all we have accomplished together, while acknowledging that much work lies ahead.

In recognition of this organizational milestone, today we're launching a $10-for-10 Campaign to ensure that GO's tenth year is our most successful year yet!

Can you help us kick off our 10th Anniversary Year by making a donation of $10, $100, or $1,000 before June 30th?

With your support, GO will continue to fund vital job training programs that provide pipelines to sustainable and fulfilling employment for the people and communities we serve.

On behalf of the GO board, staff, and the community we serve, thank you for helping us build a robust, inclusive workforce in Asheville!

Sincerely,
J Hackett
Executive Director

PS - Recurring donations are the best way to provide steady support for our vital work. Make your 10th Anniversary Gift go farther by setting up a monthly, quarterly, or annual recurring donation to GO!
Green Opportunities StoryShare: Iindia Pearson,  GO Accountant and Training Program Graduate

Green Opportunities StoryShare: Iindia Pearson, GO Graduate

Iindia Pearson wears many hats. A graduate of two of GO's early training programs, GO Forward and GO Training Team, Iindia has been employed at GO since completing the Training Team in 2013. She currently works as an accountant on our staff. A mother of four, Iindia also serves in the Army Reserve as a mechanic, and runs her own catering company,  Miss P's Cateringz & Delicious Dogz!

In our latest StoryShare video, Iindia talks about the many ways she has been involved with the Green Opportunities "family" since it's founding in 2008, and what GO has meant to her. "Going through the program actually kind of opened my eyes to a greater world." Watch the video here

GO's New YouthBuild Cohort Off to a Strong Start

YouthBuild students show off the saw horses they constructed

Last month, Green Opportunities kicked-off the second of three planned cycles of our YouthBuild training program, a tuition-free pre-apprenticeship program designed for out-of-school youth in Buncombe County. Ten young adults ranging in age from 16 to 24 are enrolled in the latest YouthBuild training cycle; 80% of the participants are teenagers, and 40% are women.

The group has been studying for their High School Equivalency exams, while also learning new carpentry skills. Students built wooden sawhorses for one of their first construction projects. This month, they toured the production facility of Deltec Homes. Deltec has been selected by the Asheville Housing Authority to construct three affordable homes later this year in partnership with YouthBuild.  Read more about YouthBuild here
