KHAN ACADEMY-
FREE ONLINE RESOURCE FOR STUDENTS
Salman Khan was living in in Boston and tutoring his cousins in New Orleans. In an all-too frequent story, these children had gaps in their learning that made them believe that they could not do math. Khan set out to fill in those gaps. Along the way, he developed videos and posted them to YouTube. It turned out that his cousins like the videos better than the live Salman Khan. The reason was obvious. The cousins could pause the video, but not the live Salman Khan. Khan Academy was born from that experience and now has over 2000 videos that reach over a million students each month. These videos are now linked to practice problems that allow students to practice a skill until they truly understand it. Khan's premise this that students should keep practicing a topic until they master it.

Recently, the College Board has collaborated with Khan Academy to provide free, online SAT and AP test prep. The College Board reports that last year, 16,000 students saw gains of 200 points on their SATs when they dedicated 20 hours to this online prep. Students can click on the College Board's website to customize their online tutorial. However, these resources are not just for SAT and AP prep. Students can use these resources to review even basic concepts. We at Camden Catholic want our students to tap into this powerful resource. The Guidance Department and Office of Academic Affairs will encourage students to use this resource. Salman Khan encourages families to watch the same video, and talk about it. Together, we can all benefit from this resource.
STUDENTS PERFORM AT AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY GALA

Alumnus & parent Brian Fitzpatrick shared a recap of the students' recent performance at a black tie gala fundraiser for the American Cancer Society:

A heartfelt thank you to the amazing performing arts students at CCHS who entertained last weekend at the American Cancer Society Hope Gala at the Merion. I was the Co-Chair of the event which was a Broadway Theme. Under the direction of Greg Gardner and Joanne Mullin McBride our wonderful CCHS students performed the production tap number of Anything Goes. They also performed individual solo numbers during cocktail hour. I have heard so many wonderful comments about the kids and how well they represented the school. They kicked off the event with much passion and energy.

Thank you Greg, Joanne and all the amazing performing art students of CCHS. GREAT JOB! You helped us raise over $220,000 for Childhood Cancer Research.
