Long Beach CaLL Summer 2018 Internship Program is Underway!

After months of processing applications, conducting interviews, and making matches, Long Beach CaLL is proud to share that we are expecting to place over 80 students with 37 employers in paid and unpaid internships across the Long Beach and Los Angeles areas in our Summer 2018 Internship Program!
Internship positions are in an array of industries that include building and construction trades; engineering and architecture; health and medical; hospitality, tourism, and recreation; and public services, just to name a few. For example, we have a number of students working on building and construction projects in Long Beach, primarily at school sites, as well as students interning for local engineering firms. Even Long Beach Unified School District is participating! Students will be placed in Research and Evaluation, Transportation, Nutrition Services, and the High School Office.
To all those involved, we cannot thank you enough for providing so many students with valuable work experience, an exploration of career fields, and an opportunity to learn and develop new skills.

Women Build LA/OC
event on

To kick off the event, there will be a welcome reception on Friday, June 22

from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. This will be an excellent opportunity to network with industry professionals. The full conference takes place on Saturday, June 23

, and will include a variety of panels discussing topics such as: Surviving and Thriving in the Trades, Challenges to Your Trades Career, Becoming a Leader in Your Local, and more. Union leaders, journey-level members, apprentices, and those in apprentice-readiness programs are especially encouraged to attend.
With women making up only 3% of the building and construction trades, the
Los Angeles and Orange Counties Building and Construction Trades Council
is continuously making an effort to introduce, support, and promote women in this industry. The event welcomes youth. If you know students interested in engineering, architecture, or construction, please encourage them to attend. It will take an entire community to make the building and construction industry more gender diverse. Why not join the movement by attending this event?
