We wanted to provide you with an update on the Mt. Vernon Road project.
Crews are still working primarily on the water main replacement on the north side of the road. Closures at side streets between 38th Street and 42nd Street currently remain in place. This phase will be wrapping up within the next 1 – 2 weeks, and then crews will transition to working on the pavement surface. Driveways and sidewalk on the north side will be underway in the weeks ahead.
Once the water main and pavement on the north side is complete, the traffic pattern on Mt. Vernon Road will shift to allow crews to work on the south side. We will send additional updates as we get closer to shifting traffic. One lane in both directions will remain open.
Elsewhere on the corridor, a new driveway has been constructed connecting the Hy-Vee parking lot to the Mercy Care facility. This will provide easier access to Mercy Care while 40th Street remains under construction.
