Did You Know?
The  Princeton Farmers' Market begins May 17 and runs weekly on Thursdays from 10am-3pm at Hinds Plaza, outside the Princeton Public Library.
The University's 27 acre  Solar Field now has 25 Katahdin sheep from Maine that "mow" the grass.
Tigers Recycle!
 Each month we bring you a simple recycling tip to help reduce contamination in the recycling bins on campus.

This month's tip: Napkins are NOT recyclable! Try to reduce your napkin use in the dining halls and only take what you need.

The Inchworm

Nine years ago, the town of Princeton released a 200-page Climate Action Plan, full of good ideas about how to make the community a more sustainable place to live. Practically nobody read it.
 
A new Climate Action Plan is in the works for 2019, and this time around the town has turned for help to a five-member “Tiger Challenge” team of Princeton University undergraduates. Over the past year, the students have engaged in the process of design thinking as they search for new ways to deliver impactful information to a distracted public. The team’s simple but innovative concept,  “ The Inchworm, ”   is nearly ready to be put into action.
EcoReps Launch Sustainable Clothing Initiatives

This semester, Princeton's EcoReps launched “Mend Monday,” a bi-weekly clothing repair initiative in Frist Campus Center. Cecilia Shang '18 and Nico Viglucci '19, the group's organizers, believe that Mend Mondays can bring greater exposure to sustainability while empowering students to take clothing repair matters into their own hands.
Celebrate Bike-to-Work Day
Transportation and Parking Services is celebrating Bike-to-Work Day with breakfast for faculty and staff biker commuters on Friday, May 18 from 7am-10am at Firestone Plaza. Arrive on a bike and receive a grab-and-go breakfast and coffee. Stay a while to learn about campus and regional biking resources from Greater Mercer TMA and Princeton bike enthusiasts while mingling with fellow campus bikers.

If you are a regular bike co mmut er or have considered biking to work, sign up for GMTMA’s Bike to Work or Bike to Food and Friends Challenge. Log miles to compete for prizes.  Register as an individual or with four coworkers as part of a team.
EcoReps Plan for Annual Move Out Donation Drive
Every spring, the EcoReps Move Out team partners with local charities and organizations to donate any used or unwanted items from campus dorms. As you move out, please bring unwanted items to a donation stations between May 21-May 26 and June 5-6. Donation stations will be located across campus and staffed with EcoReps. Abandoned items left on campus will be sent to the landfill, so please bring them to the closest EcoReps Donation Station!
Princeton Student Climate Initiative (PSCI)  Advocates for Climate Policy

On the Friday night after midterms week, seven Princeton undergraduates gathered in the Pace Center for Civic Engagement to talk climate change legislation. Decked in hoodies, sweats, and mismatched socks, these college students dedicated another long night to their cause: fighting for a New Jersey “pollution fee and dividend,” which they claim would prevent thousands of premature deaths a year. These teenagers and early 20-somethings spent months working in this student lounge, typing away on their sticker-covered laptops, in hopes of saving the world.

Graduating Students: Recycle Your Cap and Gown!
Once again, the cap and gown for bachelor’s degree candidates and the standard cap and gown regalia for graduate degree candidates will be made from 100% recycled and recyclable materials. Each item can be recycled after graduation at designated sites throughout campus. Look for boxes marked with the Tiger Grad!

Campus as Lab Corner
Dean for Research Awards Innovation Funding for Campus as Lab Research

Congratulations to the recipients of this year's Dean for Research Innovation Fund for the Campus as a Lab: Faculty Research in Sustainability, Energy and the Environment. The Campus as a Lab category was one of four Innovation Fund categories in which awards were granted this year.
The SMART Sensor   developed by Forrest Meggers and his team will examine the campus to optimize radiant heating and cooling systems that are already in place, and develop new systems and strategies
