Dear Families,
After months and months of preparation and a two-day visit from the National Association for the Education of Young Children in June, I am pleased and proud to announce that we received our new five-year term of re-accreditation from the Academy. UCDC has been an accredited center for over 25 years and continues to uphold the highest standards of excellence in all areas that NAEYC includes in the self-study process for re-accreditation. The teachers and administration uphold these standards every day and they worked very hard to ensure that it was clear in the evidence in the portfolios as well as during the observations that we are committed to this level of excellence at all times. Congratulations to everyone on a job well done!
During the visit, the assessor completed observations in six classrooms. She toured the entire center and completed a program observation as well. The center completed a very lengthy program portfolio and the classrooms completed joint infant, toddler and preschool portfolios. Portfolios include documentation of all classroom and program activities and procedures. The areas (and our scores) that centers are assessed on include Relationships (100%), Curriculum (100%), Teaching (100%), Assessment of Child Progress (98%), Health (99%), Teachers (100%), Families and Community Relationships (100%), Physical Environment (100%) and Leadership and Management (100%).
Our continued commitment will always be to provide the best experience for children and families, by ensuring high quality, developmentally appropriate programming and positive, supportive relationships to all that enter the doors of the University Child Development Center. We are honored and humbled to be able to teach your children each day and thank you for the trust that you place in us.
To my staff—WOW! This is the best collective group of individuals and educators and I am incredibly proud of you and this accomplishment that you have all contributed to and attained!!
With continued gratitude and appreciation,
Mary Beth
