Spotlight on Spiritual Formation

We'll continue our church wide study on  Introduction to Christian Faith: A Deeper Way of Seeing, written by a former president of Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary, Neal Fisher. Each weekend offers new ways to grow in faith and connect with the community, so join us whenever you're in town - even if you miss a week in between!

The series, Digging Deeper into the Christian Faith, will run through August 26 (we'll suspend class on August 19 to welcome Sarah McBride during Pride weekend).

We'll meet in the Chapel.

FUMC Goes to Conference

This Friday marks the beginning of the Wisconsin Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. We'll be sending the following delegation and invite you to keep them, and the full session, in your prayers for the fruitful and joyous work they'll be doing:  Pastors Mark Fowler, Tina Lang, Breanna Illene; Conference Chancellor Bill White; Lay Members Doug Knudson, Bobbi Reynolds, Olivia Hwang; Immigration Task Force Rep Donna Veatch; Board of Ordained Ministry members Bob Eagle, Ann Herrold-Peterson; and Retired Clergy who affiliate with our congregation.

If you'd like to follow along with the conference, you can access a live feed here or visit the website for further information.

Congratulations Students!

Last weekend we celebrated one of our favorite Sundays at FUMC! We blessed our graduating high school students and awarded three students scholarships from the Van Dyke-Alton fund. Congratulations to our graduates and scholarship recipients on such good work!

We'd also like to extend our thanks for the generous contributions, and the work of our members on behalf of the Van Dyke-Alton committee, that make these gifts possible!
Welcoming Mallory Moore on June 24!

We're excited to welcome Mallory Moore as our guest preacher on June 24. Mallory began at the Executive Director at The Crossing in November 2017. Previous to this she was the Campus Minister at ISU Wesley, a United Methodist campus ministry at Illinois State University. Mallory received her Masters of Divinity from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL.

She is excited to be living in Madison and to be a Badger! Mallory is passionate about ministry with youth, college students, and young adults and is eager to create space for those age groups in communities of faith.

Support our ASP trips
Show your love to our youth and adults headed to Jonesville, VA this summer by providing snacks. Sign up near the Welcome Center to bring a variety of treats and then drop them off in the welcome center by July 8. While you're there, please write a note for our group and drop it off in the box. Notes will be distributed throughout the week to help keep our spirits strong.

Senior Summer Camp Luncheon
Our "Summer Camp" senior luncheon is just around the corner and will take place on Tuesday, July 10. Besides the opportunity for fun and fellowship, there will be wonderful picnic-style food, music, and a few rounds of bingo. Please register by July 6 by signing up at the information desk on Sundays or by emailing Jim.

Communications Volunteers Needed
Are you looking for a way to get involved and serve this community? We're looking for volunteers to help in Communications - from printing bulletins to helping us with our social media and everything in between! Timing and tasks are flexible and open to all skill levels and abilities. Contact Alison Long with questions or to express interest. And thanks for your help!

Lyons Lecture Virtual Access
The Lyons Lecture has wrapped up for 2018, but your opportunity to experience it has not! We're excited to offer virtual access (through a YouTube link) to those who weren't able to make the lecture or to those who would like to revisit the material.  Email the office  to purchase or with any questions. The cost is $15.

Food Pantry Needs You!
The food pantry ran out of bags and needs your help! If you have any to spare, please bring bags to church on Sunday, or drop in the Welcome Center throughout the week. Paper bags are preferred. This is an on-going need and any help is much appreciated.

Changes to Coffee Hour
We're making some changes to coffee hour on Sunday morning. In an effort to be more environmentally and economically responsible, we'll be phasing out our paper coffee cups and lids and replacing them with reusable mugs. You're always welcome to bring your own mug with a lid if you'd like your coffee to travel with you around the building! We're excited for this opportunity to live into our mission for sustainability and appreciate your cooperation.  Also, beginning this weekend and continuing through Labor Day, we'll be serving coffee on Sunday mornings from 8:15-11:15 in the Fellowship Hall, with treats served at 10 a.m.

Have an event or announcement you'd like printed here? Email us your submission by 10 a.m. on the Tuesday prior. Please note that all announcements are subject to edit.
