Good Earth
More Than a Store

Good Earth is a local, family owned produce and garden center that specializes in providing the freshest and tastiest local fruits, veggies, clean meats, free range eggs, and dairy from local farmers. We also support local bakers, families, and artisans by selling amazing homemade breads, casseroles and sweets, oils, jarred goodies, dried goods, soaps, candles, and oh so much more! Over the years, our faithful customers have repeatedly requested non-local produce that cannot be grown in our area, so we provide these products too. This time of year, you'll find our greenhouse full of gorgeous ready- to-plant spring flowers, hanging baskets, herbs, and veggies as well as houseplants and succulents. You can get almost anything else on-line or at the big box stores, but get the freshest produce and most beautiful plants right here at Good Earth. Experience the CSRA's little secret that's not a secret anymore! We were voted Best Produce 2018 by readers of the Augusta Magazine and are One of the Top 10 Best Farmers Markets in Georgia according to Yelp!

LOCAL STRAWBERRIES ARE IN THE HOUSE!
Cynthia F Catts,  RD, LD

It's mouthwatering strawberry time! Georgia and South Carolina weather is perfect for growing the juiciest, sweetest strawberries! One of nature's AMAZING foods, these plump berries are chock full of nutrition! Strawberries naturally contain protective phytochemicals such as flavonoids, carotinoids, antioxidants, and of course all of those external seeds mean FIBER!! Strawberries are low glycemic too (they are way down there at 40 on the glycemic index), which means diabetics and pre-diabetics can enjoy them in moderation along with a healthy balanced diet! In addition to their deliciousness, strawberries boast lots of vitamin C, folic acid, and potassium. And, 1 cup of strawberries only has 50 calories!! By including  strawberries in your diet during the warm months, as with all produce, you decrease your rate of heart disease, diabetes, and cancers. Research has long proven that a high intake of all produce is associated with healthy skin and hair, good energy, and can be part of a balanced weight loss diet! So come in today and get a gallon of just picked strawberries! They're LOCAL, y'all!
The Farmer's Market
Tastes Like Summer

The days are getting warmer, the nights are getting shorter, and delicious summer produce is beginning to make an appearance on our shelves in the market! There is something truly magical and invigorating about this time of year. Breezes warmed by the sun, young green leaves, re-emerging frogs- the Earth is coming alive, and it's hard not to feel it wherever you go. Toasty soil and spring rains make for delicious produce, and if you find yourself craving sweet fruit and crisp vegetables, it's no surprise! Come to the market to get your spring produce fix because if it's fresh and local, you can find it on our tables. This week, we've brought back some of your summer favorites! You can find sweet Athena cantaloupes, Florida watermelons and peaches, local asparagus and strawberries, sweet corn, fresh okra, and so much more. F or our customers who find themselves a little short on time (who DOESN'T this apply to??), we always have a fresh selection of prepared fruit and cut vegetables ready to be munched or cooked. Plus, don't forget about our new weekly specials! Every weekend, stop by the market to see what plants and produce we're featuring. This week in the market, all peppers are on sale! For fabulous spring produce and amazing deals, come check off your shopping list at the market this week.
Our Greenhouse
Your Porches, Simplified

It's spring in the south, and if you've got a porch, chances are you're trying to decide what to put on it. You've seen your neighbors, you've seen this month's issue of Better Homes & Gardens, and now it's time to turn dreams of flowers and foliage bursting with life and color into a reality. Feeling overwhelmed and uncertain? Waking up with nightmares about killing your ferns or accidentally hanging two different shades of red geraniums? Take a deep breath and come to the garden center. If you can tell us how much sun or shade your porch gets, we can find the perfect plant for you to take home, whether it's in a pot or hanging basket. Our knowledgeable staff can recommend the right fern or flower based on your porch's conditions and your aesthetic preferences! Trucks are arriving daily with fresh pots and baskets of geraniums, New Guinea impatiens, petunias, and more. If you love the look of mixed flowers, save yourself the time and energy, and pick up one of our gorgeous pre-made combination pots or baskets. We have combinations in multiple sizes for shade or for sun, so no porch shall be left behind. Don't forget to ask a garden center associate about care tips for your new plants regarding water, sun, and temperature preferences, so you can be set for success all season long!
