People's Perk

The Backstory:
The People's Perk  is a quaint, little coffee shop located in Greensboro, NC.  When owners, Karen and Nancy came to us looking for a house blend, the first coffee they tried was the Chatham Street Blend.  For their house blend, the decided they wanted a similar coffee, only darker with a richer flavor profile.  And so, the People's Perk Blend was born.

Cupping Notes:
A dark roast of Indonesian and South American beans combined to yield flavors of earth and spice, with hints of chocolate and anise.

Happy Thursday!

Coffee Talk-  We just received a new shipment of coffee and people were disappointed that we didn't have their favorite coffee.  Let me explain:  We don't have control over what is available to us.  And to some extent, neither does our supplier.  You see, coffee cherries are a fruit and grow on trees (think peaches).  The coffee bean is actually the seed of the coffee cherry.  Coffee is a real food, people.  It doesn't live in the grocery store in cans or bags.  Look at the picture of the coffee Life Cycle below.  Just as any other crop, coffee is subject to crop failure.  For example, right now there is a drought in Sumatra, so there will be less product and the price will go up.  Sometimes, coffee farmers try experiments, then decide to no longer produce the experimental coffee.  The perfect example is our Ethiopia Misty Valley.  It's not coming back folks.  Neither is any blend that contained the Misty Valley, like the Espresso 12.21.  That is why we keep trying to get our customers to try different coffees.  If you get stuck on one thing, chances are we'll run out and you'll be disappointed.  That's the way the cookie crumbles (or in this case, that's the way the coffee grows).  Please take the time to experiment with other coffees.  We are available to help you make an informed decision!

Have a great weekend!
