This article is about the recent political buzz “Medicare for all.”
In recent news, Bernie Sanders seems to be championing “Medicare for all.” This “Medicare for all” plan might abolish private health insurance and a single government-run insurer would cover everyone.
How disruptive this would be to our current system, to include: private insurance companies, health insurance stock, retirement portfolios (left with less value), jobs, wages, investors, doctors, hospitals, ect.
“In Canada, people buy private insurance for benefits that are not covered by the government program, like prescription drugs and dental care.” “Most other countries with single-payer systems allow a more expansive, competing role for private coverage. In Britain, for example, everyone is covered by a public system, but people can pay extra for insurance that gives them access to private doctors. Most countries in Europe don’t have single-payer systems, but instead allow private insurance companies to compete under extremely tight regulations.”
Think about it! In the United States Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) is already a “single-payor” health plan offered by the government.
A Medicare eligible person can buy additional health insurance from private insurance companies (like a Medicare Advantage plans (Part C) or a Medigap (Supplement) plan for additional benefits (like dental, vision, gym memberships, hearing, and hearing aids).
Medicare Advantage plans and Medigap plans offer protections that Original Medicare doesn’t, like: capping annual out-of-pocket spending and offering more predictable out of pocket costs.
Currently with Original Medicare, Medicare pays 80% for Part A and Part B benefits, and leaves the Medicare eligible person with the other 20% to pay and the (annual) deductibles. Original Medicare also doesn’t have an annual out-of-pocket maximum.
The private insurance companies offer competition to keep health care spending low by controlling costs and also offer more benefits than Original Medicare. In my opinion, if we transition to “Medicare for all”, current (non-Medicare) health insurance should include based coverage (like hospital, doctor, skilled nursing, physical therapy, ambulance, etc.) like Medicare currently does and then have the private insurance companies offer the “buy-up” options for those who need additional coverage and benefits.

When meeting with clients we sometimes get into discussions about Neuropathy, which is common with people who have diabetes. Neuropathy (peripheral neuropathy) symptoms are tingling sensation, burning sensation in your feet, legs, and arms. There could be intense stabbing and pain, loss of feeling, and/or numbness.
The attached article talks about people with diabetes are usually deficient in thiamin (which can be found in B1, much like B6 vitamins).
Need help reducing the pain and complications of diabetic neuropathy? Try Benfotiamine, which has been clinically proven to reduce the pain.
