U.S. Champions at
Space Settlement Design Competition
Hollenstein Career & Technology Center Aerospace Engineering students, Saginaw High School senior Mandy Hiett and Chisholm Trail High School senior Jonathon Freimuth, led their 40-member team in winning the U.S. Championship at the 20th annual Space Settlement Design Competition at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, March 23-25.
Based on his superior performance, the judges then chose Freimuth to be among the 12 winning team members who earned an all-expenses paid trip to represent the United States in this year's international competition at Kennedy Space Center in Florida in July. Hiett made the seven-member alternates list. She was a top-12 member in 2017.
