MESSAGE FROM PASTOR TIM

For the Beauty of the Earth

For the beauty of the earth,
For the beauty of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies,
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our grateful hymn of praise.

For the beauty of each hour
Of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale, and tree and flower,
Sun and moon and stars of light,
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our grateful hymn of praise.

For the joy of human love,
Brother, sister, parent, child,
Friends on earth, and friends above,
Pleasures pure and undefiled,
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our grateful hymn of praise.

- Folliott Sandford Pierpoint (1864)

Dear Friends and Members of the Congregation,

Sometimes the most heartfelt prayers are a deep sigh of contentment in the presence of nature or special people in our lives. This hymn, For the Beauty of the Earth, captures that interaction with the Holy.  Now that spring has truly arrived, may you have caught yourself reveling in beauty.  Celebrate that prayer.

In terms of word prayers, I am thankful to Chloe and her father Brett Salkeld, and the whole team, who organized our Trivia Night last week.  Terribly hard questions, but many wonderful moments of koinonia (Christian fellowship).  It was a very nice night.

Also prayers of thanksgiving for your generous support of One Great Hour of Sharing during Lent and Easter.  We received over $4000 in giving, which will go to hungry people, people who have survived disasters and people who are learning to lift themselves out of poverty.

Peace of Christ,
Tim

VERSE AND PRAYER

I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us. - John 15:5

Creator God, we give you thanks for the great abundance and nourishment that you provide us through your Creation and through your great love for all beings and creatures. As we come to this weekend and enjoy some sabbath rest, reveal to us ways we can honor you and your created world. Inspire our worship and re-creation.  Shape our lives, we pray, to reveal your glory.  Amen.

DONATE Online! Peace and Global Witness Offering, Per Capita, Capital Savings Fund and more! Many opportunities await you!
