Dear ,

        As you may have heard, one of our neighboring Catholic schools, St. Sebastian, has recently announced their closure. This announcement comes nearly a year after St. Mary's of Wayne made the same announcement. As a member of the Catholic school community, it is very disheartening to see other Catholic schools close. The impact of a closing school to the surrounding community and the emotions of seeing students and teachers without an academic home are very difficult. At Sacred Heart, we welcome any families from St. Sebastian and will do all that we can to ease the transition.

To provide you a basic state of Sacred Heart Catholic School, please note the following:
  • Sacred Heart Catholic School is in strong financial standing.
  • Enrollment for the upcoming school year is up from this year. This further solidifies our financial standing, yet Sacred Heart will continue to strive for the small community feel.
  • Academically, Sacred Heart will continue to employ the most qualified educators, provide quality professional development for our educators, and continue with a strong curriculum that focuses on developing each student.
  • Spiritually, Sacred Heart will continue to instill Catholic values in every student and assist in their faith journey.
  • Finally, Sacred Heart's greatest assets are the families within the parish and school. The generosity of your time, money, and spirit allow us to live the mission of Sacred Heart.

Help us fill the Easter Food Baskets for those in need in our Parish.

It's time for Sacred Heart's annual Easter food collection April 1-15th.
 
We would like to provide a variety of foods for the recipients, so please see the list below for suggestions for donations by grade level
 
Preschool--pasta (plain noodles and sauce packages)
K---canned fruit (not in heavy syrup, if possible)
1---canned vegetables
2---tuna or canned chicken
3---peanut butter

PPP HOURS INFORMATION

PPP HOURS NEWS 
It is never to early to earn your PPP hours, don't wait until the last minute. 
Remember new this year: 
families not fulfilling their program requirement by the end of the school year (the first Monday of May) will be assessed at the rate of $40.00 for each hour not completed.  Also, PAPER  will no longer be accepted to fulfill uncompleted PPP hours. Please refer to the Student-Parent Handbook for all the details regarding PPP hours.
Also, 4 of the 25 hours must be fulfilled by doing recess duty.

Environment Information

Keeping our students safe, please follow these rules when you come to Sacred Heart.
  • To only use the G1 (Garrison) and G2 (Main School With Brown Awning) doors when entering the school
  • Do not let others into the building when entering the school building
  • Update teachers and administration about any changes at home that could possibly affect their students at Sacred Heart.
  • All visitors must sign in at the office.
  • Students who are being picked up must be picked up from the office and signed out.

The planners are tools that assist us in teaching  discipline and organization as key building blocks for academic success. In addition to calendar and assignment areas the books include the SHS Handbook and Technology Use Policies and will serve as useful references for both student and parents throughout the school year. 2019 SHAA
Annual Scholarships
Sacred Heart Alumni Association, which annually offers high school scholarships, is pleased to announce our 2019 opportunities. For some years now SHAA has been awarding scholarships. However, last year a generous alumnus, in gratitude for a great high school education at Sacred Heart, contacted our board. This alum had desire to "pay back" for career success by assisting students choosing secondary education at a Catholic high school. We were pleased to greatly increase our offer.
                                            
                Students entering ninth grade in area Catholic High Schools next fall are invited to participate to earn SHAA scholarship assistance via a short essay competition.
                Four total scholarship opportunities are offered. This year two possible scholarships (designated for one girl, one boy) each with a value of $1500 are offered to our 8th grade graduates of Sacred Heart Elementary. In addition, two $500 Board Scholarships continue to be offered to either 2019 graduates of our parish elementary or students of active Sacred Heart parish families graduating from other grade schools, or homeschooled.
                Application details are available for pickup from the parish office, or can be emailed on request (see below). Completed applications can be returned in person to the parish office, or mailed, but must be received no later thanThursday, April 18th. Candidates must be entering and accepted to 9th grade at an area Catholic high school. Awards are paid directly to the school on the student's behalf.
                Winners will be presented and recognized at the SHAA annual general meeting on Sunday May 5th. For further information, Contact [email protected]
