As a reminder, the New York City (NYC) Sexual Harassment Training requirement went into effect on April 1, 2019. The required training period is annually between April 1 of each year. Best practice is for employers to have the training around the same time each year.
This
NYC law applies to employers with 15 or more employees
, and employees
who work more than 80 hours in a calendar year and work for at least 90 days.
As with the New York State law,
e
mployers must keep a record of all trainings, including a signed employee acknowledgement; these may be kept electronically.
- New York City has online training available which will serve as a compliant training for the NYC law. It can be viewed here.
- For the ease of our clients, Engage also will have available a combined webinar training which will serve the compliance requirements for New York State and New York City, as well as include general discrimination and harassment information. This Webinar will be available later this month. You will receive another alert from us when that link is live.
Please note that this NYC training requirement is separate and apart from the New York State Harassment training requirement whose compliance year runs from October 9 to October 9. Therefore,
all NY State employers must complete their training for the first compliance year by October 9, 2019.
