NOTES FROM KRISTEN!
Hi Company Families!
Happy Wednesday! Congrats on another awesome competition weekend! I am so proud of how you all pulled together and did your best on stage! We have another big weekend ahead as we approach auditions. Just remember to do your best, but don't stress!
I can't wait to see all of you Saturday!
- Company Auditions are this Saturday, May 12th! Everyone interested in being a part of Principal Company, Corps Company or Pre-Company must attend. Be sure to read all of the details below!!! Audition forms are due today, May 9th!

COMPANY AUDITIONS! MAY 12
|
|
We are having ONE AUDITION DATE again this year, May 12th, there will not be an additional audition date held in the fall!*
- We will will be casting all the Specialty Routines (ones that rehearse on Sundays) at this time, as well as determining placement into Company (& Pre-Company) Jazz and Tap classes.
- In addition to placement into Company Classes, Specialty Routines and Star Performance Teams, we will also be evaluating students to start Pointe Class in the fall AND dancers selected to represent Center Stage at YAGP next season.
- Audition Information specific to each group is available on the studio website under the performing groups tab.
- Audition Forms are due to the front desk by today, Wednesday, May 9th. You can print one out or pick one up at the front desk. Even if you are not able to attend auditions on May 12th, you MUST turn in an audition form!
Acceptance and placement into Company Jazz and Tap Classes will be announced when fall registration comes out (packets distributed in June). Placement into Specialty Company routines will be announced in July.
*Dancers who cannot attend the audition date will need to submit a video audition by May 10th! See details below!

Audition Day Information
Please note! The grade level you should audition with is the grade that you WILL BE entering in the Fall of 2018- NOT your current grade level!
Auditions for all performance groups will be done with your age group during the times listed below:
Saturday, May 12
K-2nd: 9:00-9:30am
Those auditioning for Pointe (not currently en pointe): 9:30-10:00am
7th-9th Grades: 10:00am-12:00pm
10th-12th Grades: 12:30-2:30pm
3rd-6th Grades: 2:30-3:45pm

New Audition Format This Year!
Audition will consist of ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, hip hop and musical theatre dance (time permitting). See below for details specific to your age group!
K-2nd Grade Dancers:
- Arrive at the audition ready to dance- no preparation is required for this age! Dancers will be asked to perform a number of steps across the floor and at center as well as learn a short, fun combination to perform. Don't worry if you haven't taken a certain style of class before, we'll walk you through it!
3rd-12th Grade Dancers:
- The ballet, tap and musical theatre portion of the audition will be learned and taught in person during your scheduled time. Dancers will be asked to perform a number of steps across the floor and at center as well as learn short combinations. Don't worry if you haven't taken a certain style of class before, we'll walk you through it!
- Additionally, all dancers will perform the prepared Jazz combination specific to their age group during the audition. The combinations can be learned via the video links below and available at www.centerstageacademy.org/performance-groups.
- If you'd like to be considered for a specialty routine in Hip Hop or Lyrical, you should also prepare the video combinations in the style you prefer. It is recommended that all dancers audition with all styles even if you don't think you are "good" at a certain genre (directors might see your strengths differently than you do)!
Any students who would like to review the audition combos in person this week are welcome to attend one of the following class times:
- 3rd-6th Grades (as of fall 2018): Wednesday, 6-7pm (Company Jazz)
- 7th Grade & Up (as of fall 2018): Tuesday-7:15-8:15pm(Company Jazz), Wednesday-8:15-9:15pm (Company Jazz), Thursday- 6:00-7:00pm (Leaps & Turns)

VIDEO AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

Dancers who cannot attend auditions on Saturday, May 12th will need to submit a video audition via email to Kristen by May 10th including all of the following requirements!
- Jazz combo (learned from the video- link below)
- Lyrical and Hip Hop combos (if interested in those styles of dance- also learned from video- links below)
- Pirouette R and L
- Ballet Pirouettes R and L (wearing pointe shoes if en pointe)
- Tendu R and L (devant, a la seconde, and derrière- wearing pointe shoes if en pointe)
- Splits R and L
- Time steps (if they have learned them) single, double, triple
- Running Flaps
- Flap Ball change
- Make up 8-16 counts to show off their favorite tap steps

Attention Pre-Company 2 and Company 1-2 families!
You can sign up via the link below to help with your dancers either Friday or Saturday night and enjoy relaxing while watching the performance the other night!

Pre-Company 1 Families!
Since all of you are also in an Intro Combo/ Jr Ballet 1 class, b
ackstage will work the same as it has for you prior to joining Pre-Company. You will be in the same dressing room with the Intro Combo/ Jr. Combo 1 classes, so please sign up via the volunteer form on the website to be a Class Mom for the recital if you would like to do so!

You'll be sent an email to confirm your registration.
2. Log in. Then search for Center Stage Company and request access to the group(s) that apply to you.
For example, everyone should request access to join the 2017/18 All Company group and then all of the group classes/ routines that you/ your dancer are in!

Enable Push Notifications on your phone! (Go to settings to enable them.)
We will use this App to send push notifications to your phone to give everyone immediate need-to-know information- especially during the competition season!
