Welcome to Salt Lake City!
Council of State Presidents
Planning Committee Elected
The Council of State Presidents (COSP) met on Tuesday, April 2, to discuss accomplishments and a wide range of issues and to elect a new COSP Planning Committee. The packed agenda included icebreakers, sharing circles, and a white elephant gift exchange. According to the NSNA President, Wesley Osler, the day-long meeting was one to be remembered. “We discussed a range of topics, including convention planning, how to plan state conventions and state events, and board engagement."

At the traditional COSP Leadership Dinner, sponsored by Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY, Beth A. Brooks PhD, RN, FACHE, President and CEO, The Brooks Group, LLC, Chicago, IL, talked about strong and weak networks and how to maximize network connections.

COSP Elections
Elections were also held for the COSP Planning Committee. Liz Kimsey (MO) was elected to the Northern Election area; Rachel Barbey (TX) was elected to the Southern Election Area; Jessica Alvarado (NY) was elected to the Eastern Election Area; and Genevieve Salas (NM) was elected to the Western Election Area. Ms. Salas will serve as the 2019-2020 COSP Chair, and the Ex-officio Director of the 2019-2020 Board of Directors. Congratulations to the new committee.

The COSP Planning Committee has, for decades now, served as the architects of NSNA meetings for state presidents. We're excited to welcome a talented, passionate group of individuals, along with their Chair, who will serve as an advocate to the Board of Directors on behalf of state presidents. I congratulate the incoming committee, and wish them great success in the new term! Wesley Osler said.

Here is some useful information to guide you:
Salt Lake City Survey Participation
The Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute at the University of Utah develops and shares economic, demographic and public policy data and research to help organizations understand their economic impact. NSNA has partnered with the Policy Institute to conduct a brief survey during the 2019 NSNA Convention. The resulting data provides valuable insight for Salt Lake and NSNA. If you are approached by a professional surveyor in the Salt Palace Convention Center, you are encouraged to participate. Please note the surveyors will wear a convention badge and identify themselves as Policy Institute employees. The survey will be brief, only taking a few minutes. Thank you in advance for your participation!
Student Activity Tables

Official school and state NSNA constituents may sell fundraising items to benefit their chapter only in the Student Activity Area. Due to equipment charges, there is a fee of $35 per half table. Tables are assigned at Membership Services in the Registration Area of the Salt Palace Convention Center on a first-come, first-served basis. Please use professional discretion when selecting slogans and themes for T-shirts and other fundraising products. Please click here for more information on NSNA’s policies related to fundraising at convention. No food or drink items may be sold or given away in the Student Activity Area.
Volunteers Needed!
We are expecting over 3,000 nursing students from around the country attend the NSNA Annual Convention. Managing a convention of this size requires significant coordination and support of volunteers - just like you! Volunteers receive a certificate of recognition and a small token of our appreciation that is given at the convention. Your time commitment may be as little as one hour or as many as six hours depending on your availability. There are several different Volunteer Convention Teams that offer you opportunities to learn new skills and be recognized for your involvement. Please register for convention prior to signing up. Any volunteer that completed over six hours of volunteer service will be put in a drawing for a free MidYear or Convention Registration (not to include NCLEX review). The sign up can be sent to all schools in your state and individuals can sign up.
