AIEP BULLETIN - COVID-19 FACTS AND MYTHS - PART 1
We’re all being inundated with COVID-19 information everywhere we look. But despite all the information coming from reputable sources, there are still many misconceptions, or myths, floating around about the transmission of COVID-19. This week's bulletins Part 1 and Part 2 will highlight some of the misconceptions and true facts provided by the World Health Organization.

To help you better understand what's happening, and cut through the confusion, here are some common myths and facts.
MYTHS ABOUT COVID-19
COVID-19 is spread through respiratory droplets when an infected person sneezes, coughs, or speaks. You can also get infected by touching a contaminated surface and afterwards touching your nose, eyes, and mouth.

Below are a few common myths and misunderstandings.
1. Spraying chlorine or alcohol on skin kills viruses in the body.
2. Antibiotics are effective in preventing and treating the new coronavirus.
3. Eating garlic can help prevent infection with the new coronavirus.
FACTS ABOUT COVID-19
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and nervous when thinking about coronavirus. We have to believe the facts and not the myths. Let's explore together the facts below that you might have been stressing yourself over.

1. 5G mobile networks DO NOT spread COVID-19.
2. Exposing yourself to the sun or temperatures higher then 25°C degrees DOES NOT prevent COVID-19.
3. You can recover from the coronavirus disease. Catching the new coronavirus DOES NOT mean you will have it for life.
