Summer Suppers are Underway - More Tables Added!

The initial question was simple enough: What would it look like if small clusters of Carmel women got together around the supper table and shared their stories?  But in the planning stages new ideas can be a bit daunting, and come with unique pushback: Would they even be interested? Would it be too intimidating? Are they just too busy?

However, the response to Summer Suppers has been remarkable.  As quickly as registration opened, tables filled up and the women of Carmel made it crystal clear that they were hungry to get to know each other and be known.

This week the first round of Summer Suppers were hosted. The tables were set with genuine hospitality and food was lovingly prepared. But what happened during the fellowship took everyone by surprise - not only was there opportunity to meet  new people and eat dinner together, conversation became meaningful as women shared authentically about what was going on in their lives. By the end of the evening a common bond was formed - the kind found only in the struggles of living life and loving Jesus and trying to do both well. Strangers became comrades and confidantes, finding normalcy in the chaos and hope for the journey ahead. Many who attended mentioned feeling compelled to pray for the women at their tables in the days that followed. What a beautiful, unexpected gift!

We're excited to announce that additional tables have been added, giving more opportunities for women to gather and share. And we know that God is just getting started! There are more connections to be made, stories to be heard and hearts to be joined.

Camp Carmel:The Moment
Thank you to all who prayed this past week for our 222 Students and 40 volunteers who escaped to the mountains for a Jesus-focused week. It was a powerful time of teaching and discipleship - with a good dose of fun.

Brian Burgess was the featured speaker and Seth Condrey and the Northpoint Band led worship for the second year in a row!

Through the stories of the bleeding woman, Zachhaeus and others, everyone learned that
difficult moments can make us think God has forgotten us, when in reality He is present in our moments of battle. Each and every one of our scars, whether physical or emotional, tell a story of God's ridiculous generosity.
Everyone left feeling more encouraged and excited for what is to come this summer and beyond!
Prayer Request
Efforts are underway by volunteers and our facilities team this week to transform classrooms and large group space for an Amazing Journey Back to Bible Time. On Monday, more than 500 children, ages 3 through 2nd grade, will begin 4 days of hands-on learning about Jesus Christ from our faithful team of volunteers. Please pray that each child who attends will leave amazed and marveling at our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Please also say a prayer of thanksgiving for the adult and student volunteers who lend their time and talents to provide this unique experience for the next generation.
We Upcycled!
Last Friday, Carmel's facilities team and men recovering from addiction at local ministry partner Charlotte Rescue Mission combined their brute strength. Why? The old Carmel Christian School ministry weight room is being converted to allow for more classroom space and the well used but still operational equipment needed a new home. How great it was to give two ellipticals to the Pregnancy Resource Center for a desired fitness nook for their staff. And six weight-training machines have been added to the exercise space that aids the men of Charlotte Rescue Mission in their recovery.
