An accelerated program between  Reading Area Community College  and Kutztown University creates a new opportunity for graduates to remain in Berks County while earning a bachelor's degree in social work. Classes in KU's accredited program will be taught at RACC's campus starting this fall.

PA Community Colleges are supplying resources needed to combat the opioid epidemic.  Butler County Community College is one institution providing natural alternatives for pain management as the state battles addiction that has led to more than 4,600 fatalities from overdose. Earlier this year, Governor Wolf declared the epidemic a statewide disaster emergency. Also, Luzerne County Community College recently announced the first credit program for students to pursue a Certified Recovery Specialist credential in the Commonwealth.

PA Community Colleges Provide Educational Component of Power Systems Training Program
Students training for an associate of applied science degree in Electric Utility Technology complete academic coursework at Penn Highlands Community College &   Westmoreland Community College . Additional safety practices and procedures training prepares graduates of the two-year program to fill current and future positions as substation electricians in western Pennsylvania.
 
The Municipal Police Academy at  Delaware County Community College 's latest cohort completed additional curriculum and instruction, including 166 added hours in firearms, physical fitness, Homeland Security and other training, making it "one of the most rigorous...in the country," noted Delaware County Community College President, Dr. Gates Black. The graduation also set another record when twelve female cadets were among the 48 members of the graduating class, a reflection of the increase of women entering law enforcement.
 
RV Dealerships are seeking individuals with curiosity and adaptability to keep up with the demand for service technicians, leading to  Northampton Community College 's creation of new courses in conjunction with the Keystone RV Technical Training Academy. Students in this intensive program can learn technical problem-solving within the complex systems of recreational vehicles, including water, electrical and propane, air conditioners, refrigeration units, etc. The program fills essential positions at dealerships while providing an accelerated career path which may eventually pay up to six figures.
