COORDINATOR'S CORNER
Powerful Intentions
January is always my favorite month of the year, and even more so for 2021. Has there ever been a month more anticipated and welcomed than this January? It’s a month of new beginnings, shedding of the old and setting of intentions of the upcoming year - and the Santa Fe chapter of TTN is doing just that! Our January 25 program, “The Power of Intention” is the first step in crafting how you want your 2021 to look - and getting you started on the path of possibility.

As a chapter, we spent a lot of time last year in soliciting feedback from our members on what they wanted to see for programming in the next year. We listened to your suggestions and created an intention of offering programs that you want and your feedback helped us decide. We know that virtual programming is a huge benefit for many TTN members and will continue to be a part of our monthly offerings. You learned how to Zoom!

So, all in all, TTN Santa Fe has a very promising 2021 ahead of us - no matter what the world brings to our door. Remember, intentions are powerful - so we hope to see you all at many of our events in January and especially on January 25th for our monthly program. Let’s craft a few intentions together!

JANUARY MONTHLY PROGRAM
MONDAY • JANUARY 25 • 6:00-7:30 PM
THE POWER OF INTENTION
Online via Zoom (see link below)
The beginning of the year is a great time to look back at where we’ve been and ahead toward where we’d like to go. Many of us use this time of year to identify resolutions and goals. At our January monthly program Maia Duerr, local author and coach, will show us how to work with the all-important step that comes before this but is often overlooked: Intentions.

Intentions come from the heart and soul – they are rooted in the values that are most important to you. An intention is connected to your life’s purpose and is a specific way of expressing it at a given time in your life. Resolutions and goals are an explicit manifestation of those intentions. We will learn how our goals are more powerful and we are much more likely to achieve them if we back up a step to connect with our deepest intentions.
A writer, consultant, and coach, Maia Duerr draws on her decades of Zen practice and training in anthropology to create powerful tools for integrating mindfulness into the workplace and in clients’ everyday lives. Through her workshops, online programs, individual coaching, and writing, she has supported people around the world to create work that matters. Duerr has an MA in Cultural Anthropology from the California Institute of Integral Studies and currently lives in Española, New Mexico.
Please join us for this timely program which will include interactive exercises and guided meditation, and is perfect for anyone who is seeking more awareness of your own truth and clarity as you plan for the year ahead.

REEL REVIEW: TRIAL OF THE CHICAGO 7 (NETFLIX)
Online via Zoom (see link below)
It’s Oscar Season! Our January film is getting a LOT of Oscar buzz already.

1968 was one of the most tumultuous single years in history, marked by historic achievements, shocking assassinations, a much-hated war and a spirit of rebellion that swept all over the world. The historic events of 1968 played out on TV screens in a way that had never before been possible. The riots at the Democratic Convention in Chicago that year were a culmination of a year of rising tension, and out of those riots seven young men were arrested and became iconic symbols of the era. This is our first “look” at how one of the most critical trials of the century unfolded. This film uses some artistic license but is quite close to the trial transcripts.

Written and directed by one of Hollywood’s most revered talents, Aaron Sorkin, it is getting buzz for possible nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and possible Best Supporting Actor nominees. Rotten Tomatoes gives it 90% by both critics and audiences. Watch the film on Netflix at your convenience and join us on the 14th for our Reel Review!

Open to TTN members and non-members!

YOUR FRIEND

CHAPTER NEWS
STEERING COMMITTEE TRANSITIONS
This month we are happy to welcome
Susan Hunter to the Steering Committee as an additional Communications Co-coordinator. Susan will be coordinating the newsletter submissions process and working with Gynnee Asman in other areas of Chapter Communications. She takes over the newsletter responsibilities formerly performed by Ellen Wetzel for the
past 2 ½ years.

Susan relocated to Corrales NM from the Philadelphia area 5 years ago. For 20 years Susan has been helping build businesses through the strategic use of the web. Well beyond the task of just launching a website, she also helped design and implement online marketing plans and utilize the appropriate web tools and applications to bring new business growth.

During that period she also co-founded an online community and resource for women affected by breast cancer who desired information about the integration of natural and holistic therapies into their allopathic cancer care.

Currently Susan assists her partner, a professional photographer, with his ongoing web and gallery promotion. Additionally she helps create behind the scenes video that educate about the photographic experience and alternative processes such as tintype photography.

When she is not working, Susan feeds her soul with hiking, gardening, music and the arts. Welcome, Susan!

DECEMBER HIGHLIGHTS
Santa Fe Chapter Holiday Celebration
Laughter, memories and music were the highlights of our first virtual Holiday Celebration held on Zoom on December 14th!

Many thanks to the women who performed—Pat Kushlis on the oboe, Joanne Davis-Jankowitz sang an original song, Diane Hohn sang and recited an original children’s book she wrote, Diane Johnston played a jazz version of Winter Wonderland on the piano, and Jean Palmer accompanied the lively singalong.

Although we couldn’t gather in person this year to celebrate, we still enjoyed a fun evening of warm connection, holiday cheer, and caring for ourselves and others!
MEMBERSHIP UPDATE

“I love TTN because of the members I have met over the past year, also at various in-person meetings, and the friendships that are developing from those meetings. I also enjoy my peer group, which I joined nearly a year ago after taking the Women in Transition Workshop.” —Cindy M.

“I originally joined TTN when Jean Palmer invited me while at the New Mexico Aging Conference several years ago. I joined to participate in the then-forming peer group, which met for more than three years. I enjoyed the group and company of the other women. The activities I enjoyed most were the tour groups, and the small in-person group activities.” —Pat P.
