SPECIAL 20TH ANNIVERSARY
ANNOUNCEMENT:

NEW Workshop Track for
Fall 2019 Classes
Hello CYT Parents!

We have had such a great summer of camps and we are excited about our upcoming 20th Anniversary Season at CYT Kansas City!

In celebration of our 20th SEASON we are very excited to unveil a pilot program that gives our families the widest variety of flexibility and class opportunities. In addition to our traditional classes in all four areas, this season we are introducing a Workshop Track for our 11 to 18 year-old students! The classroom space for the workshops will be primarily in our South and East class locations, as well as the CYT Studios/Office. North and West will provide the traditional class structure that we all know and love! We positioned these in the hope that students between could gravitate to the offering that seems most appealing.

That sounds interesting! How does it work? So glad you asked! Here are the highlights:

  • Workshop Track Students are welcome to take as many or as few workshops in any area as they would like for a single price, $195.
  • This structure will allow us to feature seldom-available area and visiting professionals or alumni who are excited to bring a unique perspective to our students.
  • Workshops will last between one and six hours. Most will be 2 hours, during the traditional class time. We anticipate a minimum of four workshops per area.
  • We require students who are participating in productions to attend a minimum of 4 hours worth of workshops during that session. If you are registered for a workshop and do NOT attend, you are responsible for meeting the 4-hour minimum to be in a production. If you audition and are cast in a production and do NOT meet the 4-hour minimum, you WILL be removed from the production. Minimums that are not met will also be taken into account during casting for future auditions.
  • We will have recommended age ranges for each of the workshops to allow the students to receive instruction that is tailored for each group. Many will be for all ages.
  • As we continue to develop the track, we plan to roll out “pop-up” and local arts opportunities and discounts.
  • Like our traditional class offerings, the Workshop Track cost is eligible for the early bird, multi-class and multi-student discounts but cannot be prorated.
  • We will still be offering some traditional classes at South and East that are outside of the Workshop Track. They will be held at approximately the same time as the workshops.

We are all feeling the expectations of the overstuffed-schedule and the desire to fill our children’s world with the most meaningful and well-rounded experiences before they begin lives of their own. CYT Kansas City prides itself on being a safe place to fall for our students, providing an educational and encouraging learning environment through our classes and shows. The reason the two are linked is to create a community. We are a teaching program, in the classroom and onstage. All students are welcome, regardless of experience. TWENTY seasons of friendships, faithfulness, and confidence have passed through our doors and we couldn’t be more proud! We hope that this allows our students to continue to grow and learn in the theater arts and give the family calendar a much-needed break!
