City Offices Closed in Observance of Veterans Day - In observance of the federal holiday, all city offices, the 18th District Court and the Westland Library will be closed on  Monday, November 11, 2019.  This day has been set aside since 1919 as a day to honor and pay respect to veterans who serve and have served  in our armed forces. Trash pick up will not be affected .

Scheduled Upcoming Civic Meetings   - Residents are invited to attend the upcoming City meetings. Below is a list of the meetings with their date, time and location: 
  • TIFA Informational Meeting will be held Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 8:00 a.m. at Westland City Hall, 36300 Warren Road.  Please click here to see agenda.
Focus: Hope Senior Food Program - Tuesday, November 12, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. at the Jefferson Barns Community Vitality Center located at 31250 Dorsey Road.  The food boxes offer seniors (60 years and older who meet the federal low-income guidelines), a nutrional low-sodium diet to supplement their daily food needs.  If a senior meets the eligibility requirements, he/she is able to pick up his/her first month's supply on that day.  In order to be certified, a senior must apply in person and bring the following:  proof of age; identification and income, number of people in household.  For more information on signing up at Jefferson Barns Community Vitality Center, contact Focus: HOPE Commodity Supplemental Food Program at 9313) 494-4600.

Three Cities Art Club hosts the 8th Annual Juried Art Exhibit at The Gallery at City Hall.  There is an open call for artists to enter an orginal form of hanging fine art to be displayed in the Gallery at City Hall.  The deadline to submit a form of art is Tuesday, November 12, 2019.  The Exhibition runs November 25, 2019 through January 9, 2020.  Please visit threecitiesartclub.org  for more information.

Pizza Palooza - The Relay for Life of Westland and Wayne is holding a fundraiser on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. at Westland City Hall, located at 36300 Warren Road.  Adults are $10.00 and $5.00 for children 7 and under. This event includes an all you can eat pizza Fundraiser with two quarter auction paddles to win great prizes.

Friends of the Library Booksale - The Friends of the Library will be hosting a used book sale all weekend.  Stop in to browse through the thousands of titles that are for sale.  Whether you are into mystery, biographies, romance or non-fiction; you are sure to find something to fit your taste.  All of the books are at massive discounts.  The sale takes place on Friday, November 15, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 17, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Hines Park Annual Lightfest returns for the Holiday season - Christmas is a time of traditions for many people and one Westland tradition is the Lightfest on Hines Drive.  For $5.00 you can drive through five miles of colorful displays. Lightfest officially opens on Thursday, November 21 and is open nightly through December 31st.  For specific hours and details, please call 734-261-1990.

Curbside Compost Ends - the last day for compost pickup is December 1, 2019.

City of Westland Mayor William R. Wild, City of Wayne Mayor John P. Rhaesa, Wayne-Ford Civic League President, Vic Barra, hold the 6th Annual Holiday Meals for Wayne-Westland Veterans and Active Duty Families - recipients will receive a (16-20 lb) turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes & gravy, sweet potatoes, corn, green beans, cranberry sauce and rolls for a family of 6 - 8 people.
