Sedona Updates
With the help of 25 generous local sponsors, the Sedona Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau (SCC&TB) will donate $250,000 to the US Forest Service by 2021!  The SCC&TB just had their Sedona Trail Keepers annual donation event on June 5, where they donated $50K to the  Sedona Red Rock Trail Fund for preservation, maintenance, and creation of trails. 
 
Your tour participants can be part of Sedona's sustainable efforts by purchasing 'Nine Easy Hikes in Sedona' book that support the Red Rock Trails. This $8 booklet is available at SCC&TB Official Visitor Center at 331 Forest Road, Sedona, AZ and many of our hotels.

Arizona State Route 89A Safety & Roadway/Bridge Improvements

ADOT logo
The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), in conjunction with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), is planning four safety and roadway/bridge improvement projects on or adjacent to State Route 89A (SR 89A) between Sedona and Flagstaff. Three of the projects require travel restrictions and are being coordinated to minimize traffic impacts. For details, please click here.

RunSedona Event ~ If the Hills Don't Take Your Breath Away, the Scenery Will! 

The re-branded RunSedona Event will be held on February 2, 2019.  Your clients can register now for the 5K, 10K, Half Marathon distances! The course will take participants through the scenic Red Rocks and onto the streets of one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Spectators, supporters and participants will also be treated to an Event Expo and Post-race Celebration Zone with Beer Garden. Come to the 14th Annual RunSedona Event and be part of a rich tradition of healthy, sustainable living in Sedona, the Most Beautiful Place on Earth!


Condor to Extend Phoenix-Frankfurt Service in 2019

Condor Airlines announced it will expand service between Phoenix and Frankfurt, Germany, next year following a successful debut in the market.  In May 2018, Condor Airlines started twice-weekly flights between Frankfurt Airport and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport using a  Boeing 767-300ER capable of carrying 250 passengers each way. This year the flight operates seasonally, running from mid-May to September. 
 
In 2019 the airline will start its seasonal service earlier and end later. Condor's 2019 season will include all of May and October twice a week.

Sedona is only 2 hours from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, and it the most popular gateway airport for Sedona visitors.


National Park Fees Increase

Sedona is close to many National Parks and Monuments.  Within three-hour radius from Sedona, there are 2 National Parks (Grand Canyon and Petrified Forest National Parks) and 6 National Monuments (Montezuma Castle, Tuzigoot, Walnut Canyon, Wupatki, Sunset Crater, and Tonoto National Monuments).  In addition to these National Parks and Monuments, Sedona is home to Red Rock and Slide Rock State Parks.  That is one of the reasons your clients should consider Sedona as a hub for their visit to our region.  
 
In April 2018, the National Park Service announced changes to the entrance fees charged at 117 national parks. The changes has been implemented in many of the parks that charge entrance fees since June 1, 2018. More than two-thirds of national parks will remain free to enter.   See a complete list of park entrance fees.

Enchantment Resort , Sedona's leading luxury resort located in the heart of Boynton Canyon, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jose Martinez as Executive Chef. Set on 70 acres of panoramic natural terrain, Enchantment Resort is known for its fresh locally-sourced ingredients, sophisticated menus, and award-winning wine lists.  Chef Martinez discovered his love of cooking nearly two decades ago while leading the culinary vision and running the kitchen at his family's celebrated seafood restaurant in his native Puerto Rico. Chef Lisa Dahl Expands Her Culinary Empire in Sedona

Chef Lisa Dahl, owner and Executive Chef of Dahl Restaurant Group, announced the expansion of her restaurant concepts with the debut of a "couture-burger lounge", Butterfly Burger, and a second location of her fast-casual, wood-fired pizzeria, Pisa Lisa.
 
Both restaurants will be located in the Village of Oak Creek within Sedona Vista Village, a redevelopment project currently underway by Martin Aronson who is transforming the former Outlet Mall into a mixed-use destination with restaurants, retail and a new 120-room hotel, Element by Westin.
