District Notification System: Emergency Communication Testing
Emergency TEST messages to be launched on May 1.

Effective next month, a new district notification system will be used to launch outreach, attendance and emergency messages. Lake Park High School made this critical decision to contract with a new vendor following a failure to deliver emergency messages to some families in February 2018.

Blackboard, an industry leader in K-12 communication solutions, currently provides service for the district website and will now provide comprehensive support for additional communication channels.

In preparation for this end-of-year move to Blackboard, Lake Park will conduct an emergency communication TEST of the district notification system on Tuesday, May 1 at 6:30 p.m. Families should expect to receive TEST communication in the form of phone calls, text messaging and email to the current numbers and addresses on file. The TEST of the system does not require any action.

Please review and make any updates to your contact information in the Home Access Center (HAC) prior to May 1, so that you may continue to receive district communication via the automated notification system.
National Letter of Intent Signings and State Spirit Marches
Student athletes commit to college athletics; activities compete in advance competitions.

Congratulations to three Lancer student athletes who participated in National Letter of Intent signing day on Wednesday, April 11. Lake Park students and their families attended a recognition ceremony that included highlights of their individual accomplishments and signing an official commitment to play collegiate athletics at the following schools:
  • Nicole Hansen, Girls Golf, University of Nebraska
  • Austin Bayner, Boys Volleyball, Queens University of Charlotte
  • Jordan Haigh, Boys Volleyball, Queens University of Charlotte
Congratulations to 19 members of the Lake Park Math Team for qualifying for the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM) State math competition in May! Mathletes who will compete in Champaign at the University of Illinois include the Algebra 1 team, Pre-Calculus team, Junior-Senior 8-person team, and Calculator team. The Math Team is coached by Clint Anticevich, Ashley Castellanos, Beth Olinski, Christian Pawlak and Candice Sagliano.

Congratulations to Lake Park's Rube Goldberg team who have earned three consecutive State Champion titles! Founded in the 2015-16 school year by physics teacher James Kryger, the student team has logged hundreds of hours to construct a Rube Goldberg machine for competition. The 75-step machine is a complicated contraption that accomplishes a simple task in the most complex way possible. The design showcases a pirate theme that aides in the process of the final required step: pouring a bowl of cereal.  The Lancer team will represent Illinois and compete in National competition this weekend at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry.

Best wishes to 17 East Campus and West Campus DECA students who will represent Lake Park and compete in the Illinois Career Development International Conference hosted this weekend in Atlanta. The students earned this opportunity having placed in the Top 3 in their respective categories during the DECA State competition. The DECA sponsors are Brittany Simpson and Patryk Pliszka.

Spring Musical Takes Center Stage
Enjoy the final theatre production of the 2017-18 season.

Based on the classic cartoon series by Charles Addams and the 1960s television show, The Addams Family features a teenage Wednesday Addams (junior Christiana Gatbunton) who has fallen in love with a normal boy from Ohio, Lucas Beineke (sophomore Brian Provenzano). When she insists on 'one normal night' for the families to meet before they get married, things inevitably go awry. In the end, the musical shows that 'normal' is in the eye of the beholder.
