Message from the County Administrator
I hope your 2019 is off to a great start! The 1st quarter of this year has been extremely busy for your Camden County Government. We began in January with the publication of our 2018 Annual Report, highlighting our achievements and accomplishments for last year. The Camden County Board of Commissioners formally submitted a Launch Site Operators License Application to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a next step towards making Spaceport Camden a reality.
In February, the Board of Commissioners adopted the 2019-2024-2034 Strategic Plan, the results of our thoughtful and detailed strategic planning efforts.
This March brought us a Special Election where Camden County voters approved
SPLOST VIII and the announcement of the Showcase Camden County Photo Contest winners. We ended March by welcoming Georgia Tech's Yellow Jacket Space Program for a successful low altitude, Class II amateur rocket test at the proposed site of Spaceport Camden.
Throughout the first three months of the year, our Emergency Management Agency (EMA) has worked to prepare for disasters through a training exercise and submitting the Disaster Recovery Redevelopment Plan for approval by the Board of Commissioners.
Camden County is pleased to welcome new additions in the form of the Board of Elections and Registration, a new Public Works Director, as well as, seven Firefighter Recruit graduates.
As you read below, note the number of grants that Camden County has been able to successfully obtain in order to bring a higher quality of life for local residents.
Wishing you a joyful spring and successful 2019!
Yours for a better Camden,

Are you up to date on your flood insurance? It is not storm season yet, but higher tides are upon us with the full moon phase and northeast winds. Now is a great time to review your flood insurance policy.
If you live in unincorporated Camden County, make sure that you receive the 20% Community Rating System (CRS) discount on your flood insurance premiums. Everyone is advised to know your nearest flood hazard, even if you live in a non-hazard area that doesn’t mean that a flood can’t happen. Know and prepare. Kingsland By-Pass Phase I Update
Although weather has played a lessor role on the recent progress of the Kingsland By-Pass Phase I project, the overall construction is attempting to catch-up from the four (4) months of rain impact. New sections of asphalt, curb and gutter are being placed.
Changing traffic patterns on the lanes will begin in the near future, necessitating paying close attention to signage and striping. The new interstate ramps will open when traffic is routed to the south bridge section.
With construction continuing, please slow down and watch out for crews and machinery as you travel through the project area. The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) shares
work zone safety information
on their website. The estimated Phase I project completion is summer 2020.
