With the restructuring of higher education in the state of Connecticut, Levinson was appointed vice president for the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities in 2011, in addition to his presidency at NCC.

"We are pleased to recognize President Levinson for his innovative vision at a time when community colleges continue to be called upon to bring access and success to large numbers of new students," said NEBHE President and CEO Michael K. Thomas.

NCC was a recipient of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching's 2010 Community Engagement Classification on the basis of its commitment to serving those in need throughout Southwestern Connecticut. Helmsley Charitable Trust.

In partnership with IBM and the Norwalk Public Schools, NCC created the Norwalk Early College Academy, Connecticut's first replication of the Pathways to Technology (P-Tech) High School in Brooklyn. NCC was honored as a White House Healthy Campus in 2017.
