This Week at Christ Church
Dia de los Muertos
Sunday, November 3 - All Saints Day
Christ Church will honor  Dia de los Muertos  as part of our All Saints' Day celebration. Celebrating this holiday enriches the body of the church with a renewed understanding of this ancient custom. It reminds us that we are the People of the Resurrection, followers of the Risen Christ. Sunday, November 3rd, there will be a traditional  Dia de los Muertos ofrenda (altar) set in the back of the church .

The Christ Church Middle School Youth Group will be preparing pan de muerto and setting the altar on October 30. All  pictures (4x6 or smaller and in a frame) should be brought to the Christ Church office no later than October 30 .

Contact Charlette Preslar with any questions.
It's Time to Fall Back
Sunday, November 3
Remember to turn your clocks back an hour before you go to bed, Saturday, November 2. If you forget you’ll be at church an hour early!
Family First Sunday
Sunday, November 3
Sunday, November 3 the whole Christ Church family - children, parents and parishioners alike - celebrate All Saints’ Day with our first pumpkin scavenger hunt after the 10:00 a.m. service. Twelve pumpkins will be hidden around the campus, and it’s up to you to find them. Clues will be available for those who need them, but feel free to strike out on your own. There’s a reward for those who find all 12!

Children meet in the CCDS Science Lab - Room #3 - at 9:30 a.m and they will return to church at 10:30 a.m. in time for Eucharist.

  • November 10John Funk, Bob Hope Veterans Support Program – Connecting veterans to what’s next. The importance of helping our veterans transition into life after service.

8 o'clockers stay a little later, 10 o'clockers come a little early! Grab a cup of coffee and join us in Hinde Hall at 9:00 a.m. Note that there is nursery care available in Clare's Cottage.
A Stewardship Reflection
We Are Family
...the main reason for giving to a church has less to do with paying bills and much more to do with cultivating generous hearts. Christ gave himself for us, so too are we asked to give of ourselves for others. The Episcopal Handbook

Our stewardship campaign will conclude Sunday, November 17 with our ingathering celebration. We are currently a little over halfway to our pledge goal of $530,000. Remember, your pledge is an estimate of your giving for the year to come. Your vestry works hard to create a budget within the parameters of our anticipated pledge income.

It's easy to make your pledge. You may bring your completed pledge card to church on Sunday, mail your pledge in the return envelope in your packet, or make your pledge online now!

Questions??? Contact Christie Tugend, Parish Administrator - (619) 435-4561.

Summer Mission Trip
Enjoy the video!
This past summer, youth from our diocese traveled and served with the people of the diocese of western Mexico. Exploring the meaning of, “Quien es mi vecino?” (Who is my neighbor?) they opened there hearts and were gifted with friendship from the incredible xi-uiy people in La Nueva Palma ❤️

Thank you for your support for this mission trip to Mexico and now here's your chance to witness some of the good work, fellowship, and fun they had. View video here

New Rector to Join Us December 1
Welcome Father Michael!
The Rev. Michael S. Tinnon has agreed to serve as the interim rector of Christ Church, Coronado beginning December 1. He is the current interim rector of St. David's, San Diego, Clairemont. Interfaith Shelter
December 1-15, 2019
Come to this Sunday's Adult Forum (9:00 a.m. - Hinde Hall) to learn about the Interfaith Rotational Shelter program at  St. Mark's Episcopal Church , City Heights, December 1-15.

This will be the eighth year that Christ Church has partnered with St. Mark's on this program. Parishioners who have participated found it to be most rewarding.

You can volunteer two ways:
  • Volunteer to serve as a host, spending a night, and/or;
  • Volunteer to make a meal.

Often friends will team up to host and/or cook. Volunteers spending a night have dinner with the guests, make lunches for the next day, set out breakfast for the next morning, and assist as needed.

Thank you for your consideration to assist with this wonderful project to help the homeless better themselves.  If you have any questions, please email Marti Helmers  at  marticurry2@gmail.com .

Not Able to Make it to Church?
3 things to DO....
Some Sundays you just can't make it to church. In that case, here are three things you can do:
  • Watch the Sunday service on our live-stream, both the 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. - via the website
  • Each week's Sunday bulletins for both services are also available on the website "Worship" page.
  • Sermons are usually posted on the homepage of the website. under "News".

Remember, the live-stream is just that, it broadcasts the services in real time, no recording is currently available.

Thanksgiving Food Drive
Week 3 - green beans
There are less than three weeks left for our Thanksgiving food drive and our numbers are low. Our goal is to pack 250 bags of non-perishable food for a yummy Thanksgiving feast to be delivered to our neighbors in need through our friends at St Mark's, St Alban's, Uptown Community Services Center, and our local schools.

Here's our weekly collection wish list, but feel free to bring any item at anytime!

  • October 13 - cornbread mix
  • October 20 - mashed potatoes and gravy
  • October 27 - canned green beans (we'd like to give at least 2 per bag)
  • November 3 - canned green beans (so we need lots!)
  • November 10 - desserts
  • November 17 - $15 grocery gift cards (welcome any time)

Mark your calendars for November 17 when we'll lovingly pack our 250 bags as a parish family! We can't do it without you!

Pet Food Donations at Convention
November 8 - 9, 2019
There will be a pet food ingathering at convention . The Neighbors-4-Neighbors ministry at St. Margaret’s reaches out to huge numbers of people . There isn’t a week that goes by when clients don't ask for pet food. Many are often challenged to make difficult choices such as purchasing food for themselves or for their pets, buying medicine, or paying the electric bill. It shouldn’t have to be that way for anyone, and you can help.

Your donation of pet food to the ingathering at Convention may be dropped off at the parish office or the Sunday service. All donations must be received by Wednesday, November 6. Our delegates will make sure your donations get to the St. Margaret's.
