Each year, New Orleans CityBusiness selects individuals to be recognized for achievements in their respective industries as well as their community impact. Honoree's accomplishments have not only set the pace for their organization, but the region as a whole.

"We are excited to see Bob recognized as a Money Makers honoree this year," said Sidney Parfait, LCUL Board Chairman. Are You Helping Your Members Grow Their Savings AND Saving Money?
Almost half of Louisiana residents do not have enough money in their savings to cover if they have an emergency. We see this every day in our credit unions, that savings is not a top priority for our members. Alternatively, people are continuing to spend money on lottery tickets with the dream of winning big.

What if you could bring a product to your credit union that allows a member to save while earning a chance to win money? The Lucky Lagniappe Savings account is that product. As members deposit $20 into their Lucy Lagniappe account, they earn one entry into the monthly, quarterly, and annual prize drawings. Your member could be the lucky winner of the $5,000 annual prize! From now until November 30 Louisiana credit unions have the opportunity to enroll to offer this product to their members.

Louisiana FCU Raises Funds, Awareness for Cancer Research
Louisiana FCU employees dawned all pink at their annual Sweet Soiree fundraiser to support the American Cancer Society (ACS) on October 17. In less than two hours, the credit union raised more than $7,380 to benefit ACS' mission to fight for a world without cancer.

"The success of this event is all thanks to our passionate staff," said Rhonda Hotard, President/CEO of Louisiana FCU. "Sweet Soiree is one of our most anticipated events of the year. This is such an important cause, and one we're proud to support. Every person knows someone who has been touched by cancer, so it's great that we can come together and help drive the research forward."

Sweet Soiree featured a 50/50 raffle and a live auction featuring bid items generously donated by credit union employees. The auction historically consists of sweet confections like cakes, truffles, fudge and other baked goods. However, those watching their waistline also had a chance to bid on items such as cosmetics, jewelry, tailgate kits, electronics and more.
