Calling All Bridge Wannabes

The SER committee is organizing bridge lessons for beginners or people who want to brush up on their skills this summer! Three-hour lessons will be held on Monday afternoons, mid-June to mid-August. Each lesson will have instruction, followed by four sample hands that you play to introduce bidding and reinforce the lesson. The book "Bidding in the 21st Century", is provided as part of the course. We must have a minimum of 12 players.

The cost for the entire summer, including the book, is $400/person. As one islander said, "after the initial investment the cost is a deck of cards and a tally sheet, right? It's an investment in future friendships. Haven't I read that such friendships lead to both longer and happier lives?!" We will then get a BHI Bridge Club started in the fall to incorporate our many more experienced players on the island. Please e-mail Betsi Stephen at betsistephen@gmail.com by May 7th if you're interested in the lessons so that she can confirm with the teacher, who is a  certified Director and Instructor. He has taught the course 8 times and is a Ruby Life Master, with about 2,350 masterpoints.
