Defining the Link Between Inflammation and Cancer
A group of scientists led by Xiaoxia Li, PhD at Cleveland Clinic's Lerner Research Institute  defined a new link between inflammation, wound healing and tumor formation. The discovered pathway provides valuable insights into the study of cancers associated with inflammation.

"Our study is the first study to show that a proinflammatory cytokine can recruit a growth factor receptor to activate stem cells in support of tissue repair and tumorigenesis," said Dr. Li, member of the Hematopoietic and Immune Cancer Biology Program of the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center. more>
