Landscaping:
Mulch between Ider St. and Wheatlands Pkwy on Smoky Hill has been replenished.
Work will soon begin along Wheatlands Pkwy from Southlands Pkwy to Ider St. Mulch will be replaced with river rock in the medians and tree lawns.
From Cox Landscaping:
We are getting reports from the field staff that due to the high winds over the last few weeks, an excessive amount of trash on the properties is occurring. We have attempted to double our efforts in getting the trash removed, however, we are still finding excessive amounts of trash. The trash we are finding seems to come from home development and also from resident trash not secure and blowing in the wind. Outdoor grill tarps/covers, large boxes, bags of trash and rubbish are all in the common areas. We will continue to do our best to keep up with this. Please remember to have all trash in your containers with the lid closed to avoid stuff from blowing all over.
Pool Season:
Pool season is almost here! The pool will be open for the first day on Saturday, March 26th pool hours are Monday-Sunday 10am-8pm. New chairs and tables have been ordered for the upcoming season. Advanced Management will serve our community in enforcing our covenants and notifying residents of violations. Their core values are integrity, innovation, leadership, respect, stewardship, education, client fixation and community support.
They will have marked vehicles with AMI logos on them while they do their covenant inspections so if you see them around the neighborhood feel free to wave "Hello".
They pride themselves on empowering communities and educating homeowners to ensure all the community standards are met.
They provide 24/7 customer service and we look forward to partnering with them. If you have any covenant enforcement and/or Architectural Design Review questions you can reach out to them. To contact AMI you can call them at 303-351-5411 or email them at

Covenant Reminders:
Please remember to follow our Residential Improvement Guidelines when making changes to your yard. Below are a few tips regarding trees, lawns and fences.
Trees:
If you need to replace a tree, they need to be the correct species of tree located on schedule 5 of the plant palette located
here. They also need to be planted with the following size requirements: Deciduous trees - 2.5" caliper, Ornamental trees - 2" caliper, Evergreen trees - 6' height minimum.
Lawns:
Lawns must be watered and maintained. Each owner shall maintain all landscaping on their lot in a neat and attractive condition, including periodic and horticultural correct pruning, removal of weeds and debris, and replacement of landscaping. This applies to the front, back and side yards as well as the street/tree lawn area.
Fences:
Regular physical and aesthetic maintenance of fencing is required. All fences must be stained using one of the the approved stain colors shown on Schedule 2 of the covenant document and sealed with a clear waterproof sealant. Decks may be finished with clear semi-transparent sealer, stained to match a cedar tone, an oil based wood finish or a similar product that matches. The decks may also be painted to match the body or trim color of the home. Please review the covenant document
here for the full list of painting/staining requirements.

The Wheatlands Metropolitan District formed a separate park committee to allow decisions regarding the park at S. Kewaunee Way and Wheatlands Parkway to be made quickly and without needing a quorum of the board.
Architerra has submitted 50% of the construction documents which are being reviewed by the board. Over the next few months, Architerra will be revising, finalizing the drawings and preparing the technical specifications for the park. With a deadline of 90% of the construction documents provided by the end of June.
Below is phase 1 of the park that will be completed. If everything goes as planned we are hoping for construction to begin the middle of November with a completion date of early spring.

Fun Fact of the Month: Swarming Bees
|
The sight of swarming bees can certainly unnerve some people. However, it is a very natural and wonderful part of the life cycle of honey bees.
The honey bee colony has survived a cold winter. As the weather warms up, the colony expands. More workers are produced. The honey bee colony is a super-organism - a closely co-operating unit of thousands of individuals, which maintains its efficiency through being extremely well organized. When the hive gets too large another queen is produced. The older queen leaves the hive taking a number of bees with her.
They are focused on finding a new nest, not on attacking, but may defend their cluster if threatened.
What to do when you see a swarm
With a declining bee population, it is important to the survival of these swarming bees that they be rescued and placed in a hive where they have a better rate of survival than in the wild.
Call the Colorado Swarm Hotline 844-SPY-BEES (844-779-2337) or Tom at the Southeast Beekeepers Swarm Team at 303-304-6459. Very quickly, they will dispatch an experienced beekeeper to remove the swarm and relocate it.
