NEW BELTLINE INTERCHANGE REBUILD OPTIONS ARE CHEAPER, LESS SWEEPING

The state Department of Transportation is eyeing two scaled-back alternatives to rebuild the Beltline interchange with Interstate 39-90 - both cheaper and less sweeping than previously proposed.

RETAIL AND RESTAURANT SPACE PLANNED FOR GAMMON ROAD AND THE BELTLINE

The southeast corner of South Gammon Road and the Beltline is planned for a major upgrade. A developer is proposing a nearly 10,000-square-foot, single-story building that could be home to a restaurant, coffee shop and one or two retail shops.

HOME DECOR SUPERSTORE PROPOSED FOR FORMER SAM'S CLUB BUILDING

Finding a new use for the former Sam's Club building didn't take long. Three months after the store's closing, a Texas-based national home decor retailer is proposing a 106,000-square-foot home decor superstore for the site at 7050 Watts Road.

MIDDLETON CITY COUNCIL TO CONSIDER APPROVAL OF PROPOSED PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL

The Middleton City Council next week will consider a proposed 72-bed psychiatric hospital in the Airport Road Business Park, after the Plan Commission on Tuesday approved the plan.

MATC OFFICIALS CONFIRM SOUTH SIDE CAMPUS CONSTRUCTION TO START IN JUNE, OPEN IN 2019

Construction of Madison Area Technical College's new campus on the city's south side will begin in June and be completed in time to hold classes and community meetings there in fall 2019, school officials affirmed Tuesday.

MADISON PLAN COMMISSION APPROVES GENERAL PLAN FOR MASSIVE HILL FARMS DEVELOPMENT

The Madison Plan Commission on Monday approved the concept for a massive development at the Hill Farms property on the West Side. Commission members unanimously voted to support a zoning change and the general development plan by developer Smith Gilbane to create five blocks of office space, retail, restaurants, residential units and a hotel on 13.9 acres bounded by University Avenue, North Segoe Road, Sheboygan Avenue and the new State Office Building.

MADISON FINANCE COMMITTEE RECOMMENDS FUNDING FOR SIX NEIGHBORHOOD PROJECTS

Projects recommended for funding through the city's neighborhood grant program range from creating a documentary about the Elvehjem Neighborhood to installing vintage signs in Tenney Park.

Last year, a developer proposed a four-story apartment on North Butler Street, but it was rejected by the city's Plan Commission. The commission worried the depth of the project wouldn't blend in with the neighborhood.

CITY RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF MASSIVE MADISON YARDS LAND USE PLAN AFTER DEVELOPER REVISIONS

The massive west side Madison Yards project has been in the works for years and is on its way to the city's Plan Commission Monday night seeking land use approvals. Just a few months ago, city staff couldn't recommend approving the project, but that changed as the developer refined plans.
