3 rd Sunday In Lent
The warnings are plentiful and blunt on the third Sunday in Lent. Lent is a season of repentance. Cut it out or get cut down! The warnings are accompanied by God’s invitation to attentiveness: “Incline your ear, and come to me; listen, so that you may live.” The landowner’s ultimatum is forestalled by the gardener’s readiness to till the ground one more year. That is good news for all of us.
Thanks be to God!

Signs of Lent
You are invited on a journey in the season of Lent by way of a midweek series of services based on the concept of road signs. Like signs we see along the roads that tell us what to do, we see signs along the way on our Lenten journey that show us our way forward in Christ.

Midweek Lenten Worship Services began with Ash Wednesday and continues every Wednesday leading up to Holy Week.
Midweek Lenten Soup Suppers Before Services
Our annual, weekly Midweek Lenten Soup Suppers continue each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. After dinner, join us in the Sanctuary for a Midweek Lenten service to help us prepare our hearts and minds for the Easter Resurrection Celebration.
During these 40 days of Lent we’ll be carefully watching for signs along the road. We will follow the road that Jesus took, the road that led him to the cross. We will follow in his steps and pay special attention to the road signs we see along the way. It is important that we not ignore them. They are signs that help us learn about our Lord and his path to the cross for us, and they are signs that we will follow.
This year’s photo challenge is to help you as you’re out and about, look at the signs around you and remember God’s direction in and for your life.
Holy Week and Easter
On Sunday, April 14, we will join Christians throughout in the celebration of Palm Sunday. This day inaugurates the most important week of the Christian year, known as Holy Week, beginning with Jesus’ glorious entry into Jerusalem and ending with his crucifixion and death.
Palm Sunday, also known as Passion Sunday, remembers Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, as crowds gathered around him, waving palms and shouting “Hosanna!”. We hope you will join us this Palm Sunday with processional parade by way of waving of palm branches!
Come for a very meaningful worship service where we remember, in Scripture and drama, the betrayal of Jesus at the Last Supper.
The term “Maundy” comes from the Latin “mandatum;” it is from a verb that means “to give” or “to order” — command. As Jesus and the disciples finished the Last Supper Jesus commanded his disciples to "Do this in remembrance of me." Jesus also taught them a new commandment — “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another” (John 13:34).
This service is a special one, and we hope you will join us.
Friday, April 19, 7:00pm.
Good Friday is the day that Jesus died on the cross for us and our salvation. It is a holy day for Christians and we invite you to come and worship with us.
We will gather on this evening to hear the story from Scripture of Jesus' crucifixion, and have the gradual dimming of the lights and extinguishing of candles, symbolizing the light of God slipping into death as we anticipate the resurrection dawn of Easter morning.
Saturday, April 20 starting at 11am. Kids ages 1-10 are invited to a faithful, fun and free Easter Egg Hunt!
There will be crafts, the hunt, and the Easter story performed by our H.I.P. Ministry (Hands In Puppets)!
Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Come celebrate the resurrection of Jesus from the grave for us and for our salvation!
We have two worship services of life and celebration at 8:30 and 11:00 am with a free breakfast starting at 9:45 am (gluten free options available).
Easter Breakfast News
Soon we begin the season of Lent, followed by Holy Week and Easter, as we prepare for this journey please keep in mind your time and talents here at Advent. Pam Kasai has graciously organized the Easter breakfast for many years. We are so grateful for the time she and her family have dedicated to this wonderful event every year.
However, after this Easter, Pam has decided to step aside from this yearly task and Parish Life is looking for other individual(s) to accept this task so that Easter breakfast can continue in the future. It would make the transition easier if someone would assist Pam this year, so they know the logistics and details. If no one is willing to step up we may have no choice but to cancel the Easter breakfast in 2020. If you have further questions or are interested in being a part of this fellowship event, please contact; Pam Kasai or Christy Habermehl .
Easter Flowers
Despite the snow and cold weather Advent is looking forward to the Easter Celebration and the Sanctuary filled with blooms furnished by our Congregation.  The order blanks will be in the Sunday bulletin each week to make it easy to order. This year we have added several items for your possible interest. Place your orders early but before the deadline of March 31.
AdventELC has a ministry focused on praying for you in situations and times of need. If you would like us to pray for you, tell us your need or situation by submitting a prayer request.
Youth Spring Break
Our youth staff will be on Spring Break this Sunday. So, 6th - 12th graders stay home this Sunday night: Rest. Relax. And enjoy! We will reconvene on March 31.
Youth Serve Loaves & Fish
On Sunday night, March 10, the Senior High Youth participated in the Loaves and Fish ministry. They helped serve the less fortunate population of central Ohio by preparing food and delivering it to three different locations. As most of the team had not helped with this ministry before, it helped open their eyes to different ways of living and provided a real context to other realities. It helped them see the world through new eyes.
