Easter Flower Contributions
“Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness” (PS. 29:2)
‘Beauty’ helps set awe and wonder as the context for liturgy.
The Altar Guild has an important responsibility in making the worship space beautiful. Flowers are symbolic of our joy in Christ and will be used to express this joy and beauty at the Easter Vigil and on Easter Day. The Altar Guild is accepting contributions for the Easter Flowers for 2019.
Please fill out a special Easter flower contribution envelope or put ‘Easter Flowers’ on the memo line of your check and place in alms basin or turn into the church office by April 10, 2019 for acknowledgement in the Easter Bulletin. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
Thank you! Our Altar Guild

An Episcopal Cursillo weekend will be held Thursday evening, April 4 - Sunday afternoon, April 7 at the Oregon Christian Convention Center in Turner (just outside Salem). Cursillo is ministry in the Episcopal Church, designed to give participants a lived experience of the love of God and the love of the Christian community. Many report that Cursillo wonderfully deepens their faith, empowers their ministry to others, and continues to nourish their spiritual lives. There is no charge to attend. Ask your clergy about Cursillo and see www.oregon-cursillo.org .
During the season of Lent we will notice a difference in our worship. During this Lenten season, we will begin each worship service in silence. There will be no prelude or opening hymn. The congregation will be invited to stand when they hear the chime of the bell indicating the service is to begin. We will continue our Lenten practice of silence throughout the service, after the lessons, the sermon, and Holy Eucharist. I invite you to engage these moments of stillness to allow the Holy Spirit to speak to your mind and heart.

Reconciliation of a Penitent will be offered on Holy Saturday, April 20 between 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm and by appointment during the Lenten season. The rite of Reconciliation of Penitent may be found in the Book of Common Prayer, page 446. Please contact me at: lpotter333@gmail.com

Come to the parish hall for Morning Prayer at 7:00 am, Monday through Friday mornings during Lent and Holy Week . In Morning Prayer, the Scripture stories are continuous, and our shared leadership helps us become aware of the richness and blessings of that daily liturgy in the Book of Common Prayer. We are few, we meet in the library in Cummins Hall, we’ll be praying for you and hoping you’ll join us.

Sunday School: Mite boxes
Many people remember the Lenten practice of having a little mite box during Lent in which to put a daily offering-in thanksgiving, in reverence, in penitence, in affirmation, in joy - all the things that brought us closer to a godly life and to God. The children in Sunday School will each have a little mite box during Lent. If an adult would also like one there will be some in the information center. They will be offered up on Easter Sunday in the offertory. The main idea is the daily walk with God, and trying to do his will, the best we all can do.

Prayer attributed to St. Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled, as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen.
