Preparing Each Student for a Successful Future

As a reminder, the Staff Communicator will be distributed each Thursday that we are in session, and two summer issues are also distributed. Archived copies can be found on the "Communications Department" web page.
We want your feedback! Participate in our survey!
Republic School District invites parents and guardians of our kindergarten through 12th grade students to complete the short survey found at the link below (EC families will receive a separate survey in November). Your feedback allows us to see at what level we are meeting the needs of our students, families and community at large. Preparing each student for a successful future is our mission, and the information gathered through this survey provides us a measure to see how well we are achieving this goal.

The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete and is open October 21-November 1.
Thank you in advance!

Staff Accolades
We are so #repmoproud of our kitchen and custodial staff for their hard work each day in making sure we are providing nutritious meals to our students from a healthy kitchen environment. We received PERFECT kitchen health inspections in ALL district kitchens from the Health Department! The health inspector's comment was, "They did a super job! All of the schools are doing a fantastic job and I want you to know how much I appreciate all of the hard work you do as well as all of the kitchen staff at each school!!! You are all a shining example of doing the right thing all of the time!!"

Congratulations to Director of STRIPES 360, Ashlee Liska,
for being named a Missouri Afterschool Network Afterschool Ambassador! In this role Mrs. Liska will work with local and state elected officials to advocate for afterschool programming in schools all across Missouri. She was chosen for this accolade due to her continued commitment of providing excellence in afterschool programming here in Republic, and being seen across the state as a "go to" director in which to learn best practices. We're #repmoproud of you, Mrs. Liska!

Officer Scott Umbarger, Director of Safety and Security was honored by the Board of Education for being the first RepMO Hero of the school year! Officer Umbarger was awarded this accolade due to his continued efforts in going above and beyond the call of duty in keeping students and employees safe while building great relationships with those he serves.

Lyon Elementary students shared about the Lead Teams within their school building. Every single student has an opportunity to participate on one of the 25 Lead Teams available. CLICK HERE To watch a video the students produced for more information.

After the students, EdCounsel presented their full maintenance board policy and associated services product to maintain district compliance. In addition, the monthly MSBA video was viewed.

Administrative presentations were as follows:
Dr. Pearce presented a summary of the district's Annual Progress Report (APR).

*Dr. Wistrom provided a monthly update to the Board regarding district finances, DESE updates and district happenings.

All administrative reports can be found on BoardDocs.

Discussion items were as follows (details on BoardDocs):
Board policies
High school curriculum

The only item the Board took action upon was setting the tuition rate. As noted in Board Policy JECB, the district does not accept nonresident students. However, there are some exceptions noted in this policy. As such, it is necessary on an annual basis to set the tuition rate for the year in the event that a nonresident student is accepted under provisions defined in the policy. The tuition rate is based on the Weighted Average Daily Attendance (WADA) calculation in the ASBR. The computation for the 2019-2020 tuition rate is $8,936.

A special meeting will take place on Thursday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. and a regular meeting is scheduled for November 21 at 7:00 p.m.
